Before i get slammed for this post YES i have searched for a similar thread to no prevail..
Basically im just wondering what people use hybrid wise on their MEGATHRONS and what pirate drop weapons you can get also.
Up to now i have only used it for large mining expeditions ... so now the money is made id like to try chain killing some of these 50 k pirates 
Any suggestions will be most appreciated

I made a HUGE spreadsheet out of this, where you have some things in it like weapons and such. I came up with 2 basic design options, which I shall lay out for you here:
The Long Range Runner
Here you go:
High
5 425mm Rails
2 Heavy Launcher
1 Big Smartbomb (as a 6th rail doesn't fit)
mid
2 ABs
1 Large Shield Recharger
1 Large Armour Repairer
or 4 ABs to short
or 1 MWD and whatever fits you then
low
3 of the best CPU upgrade available
3 Reactor Control 1
and with the changes you get 1 low slot for free
(I'd use dmg enhancer or range enhancer)
Close Up and really scary
This ones for really close up engagements where you're sure to take loads of damage. In this case I put armour resistence over dmg dealt, so here it goes:
High
5 Ion Blaser w/ Antimatter charges
1 Heavy Launcher
1 Assault Launcher w/ Defenders
Mid
2 Large Armour Repair Kits
1 Large Shield Recharger
1 whatever-you-like
Low
3 of the best CPU enhancers
4 of the best resist-all mods
Jap, I haven't tested these, but according to my calcs, that could be a start for you.

Dunno if you checked these setups with Tranq, or Chaos stats, but you might want to revision this after the patch (CPU enhancers are getting nerfed, for example).

Yes i have Photonic CPU's but was told they are being nerfed to around 8%

When i switched from a scorp to a mega a few weeks ago, fitting it was a big headache.
You should deff use hybrids cause of the bonuses. Close range L neutrons with the 15% dmg bonus (bship lvl 3) is the best i think, with 3 dmg mods (4 after patch). Tactical shields, L shield booster, 1 photonic and power diags, its a good setup.. wont tell any real secrets though :P

pirates only drop medium stuff at the moment
