if auctioneer is considering buyout offer mad by the guy above me , auctioneer is requested to make that offer public, so that we may outbid it i we feel like.
If auctioneer just wants to sell his char in game, auctioneer should not bother making people all hot for it in a forum.
/singed by the guy who missed three char auctions this week because of shady / just confused selling tactics of various auctioneers.

Fair enough stingy.
I have had two buy out offers, one at 3.2bil and one at 4bil. I'm not trying to catch anyone out, but the idea of a buyout is to grab it before others can out bid you, otherwise they ay as well have just posted a bid.

Edited by: stingy CEO on 12/04/2006 16:13:54 yeah but then he should make a buyout request over here in the auction itself. the point of a buyout is snatching the item beyond doubt , not to make an unofficial bid that noone can watch and therefore can't compete with.
I repeat otherwise what is the point of putting this up on the forums ?
thanks for answering so fast though, and sadly 4 bil is too high for me for such a char....3.2 bikl i would've considered. good luck to mr anonymous then with his 4 bil buyout offer !

If i accepted the buy-out offer it wouldn't make a scrap of difference where it was made!
Anyway, current bid is 2.3bil

if you accepted a buyout from within game without giving the people in the forum any chance to top it, you are in violation of the rules :
Quote:
5. Posting scam auctions and sales are not permitted here.
Because if you woul've accepted an ingame buyout, this auction right here oculd be easily considered a 'fake' auction just to generate ingame interest, sortoff a pricecheck.
We have a pricecheck forum as well.
Don't let my ranting stop you though. People do it here all the time. Mods don't even look up strangely for it anymore. It's just bad form, that's all.

It certainly isn't a scam, I have the item to sell.
If you accept a buy out, no one can top it anyway, because the sale generally goes through immediatly.
That's like saying a buy-out is in violation because people don't have a chance to beat it and the auction finished earlier than stated. If in-game buyouts are considered illegal then it should be made clearer and perhaps have it's own point in the forum rules.
PS. Current bid is still 2.3bil!

Edited by: stingy CEO on 12/04/2006 17:23:52 no, the bid is 4 bil.
sheesh.
why keep people bidding if you have had a 4 bil buyout offer ?
what, when you said 'oh no i wont let it go sito presto for that amount' he said 'oh forget it then, i don't want your char anymore'.
please.
you saying 'bid is 2.3 bil' right now is juist going to lead to you sunday saying 'ah bid is still 2.3 bil but i had a buyout offer of 4 bil in game so toodles', because noon in their right mind will keep wasting their time (bidding 2.4,2.6 etc) with this crap after what just happened !

As far as I'm concerned a buy-out is only valid until it is accepted or declined. If they wish to make an actual auction bid then that is fine, and that is what i have told all my buy-out "offerers" so far.

fair enough, let's say that you are legit.
wouldn't it be easier for you then to only accept IN THREAD buyout offers ?
Because as it stands now 50 /60 % of people (the ones with more than 2 braincells) that might have been interested is wondering about the following :
IS he still gonna allow that 4 billion bid that was 'allegedly' offered as a buyout (we have seen no proof of this from anywhere) to stand as his top bid at the end of the week or not? Because if he is, than having people bump him every six hours with 100 mil incrememnts on a 2.3 bil bid is PERFECT for his hopes of getting a 4.5 bil buyout offer tomorrow. Also in game. convenient. That way h can keep it quiet for two more days whimlst people are bumping it 100 mil bids at a time, and he can still hope for the 5 bil buyout from a timecode seller lunatic (overpriced for this char, but that's besides the point)
If you would only allow IN THREAD buyout offers, or if you would SET A BUYOUT at start of auction, this problem wouldn't have been existent. Also me, my neighbour and his dog would still be bidding.

I assure you that all bids that have been discussed on here including buy-outs are legit, and as far as I am concerned as I have already stated they are no longer valid as I have declined them.
If the person who offered the buy out wishes to make an actual bid and therefore push the current bid to 4.2bil (Which is now the previous 3.2bil buyout offerers offer) then he is quite welcome to do so, and I have suggested this to him. I certainly won't consider his buy-out offer a bid until that point as he could easily say, it was a buyout offer not a bid so it doesn't stand and then I would be out of pocket!
If you are still interested in the character I recommend you continue bidding.

Edited by: stingy CEO on 12/04/2006 18:08:22 it's a quote from some lyrics from the eighties bands 'the smiths'.
interpret it how you want. I intended it to be aimed at the inanity and meaninglessness of people's actions/convictions having absolutely no infuence on our cravings. I want the char, I think this thread is full of it, but i'm still gonna bid.

I briefly skimmed through the posts here and looks like some good points were brought up. I'm not going to comment one way or another on any of them and I'm assuming that you are not interested in my buyout offer. I'm at work and haven't had a chance to read my EVE mail if you responded there so apologies in advance if I missed something. In any case I will bid now.
2.6 billion isk.
