Edited by: Murauke on 10/04/2006 20:12:43 I have 4.7 mil SP and im currently going for a Vagabond. I have these attributes:
int: 17 perc: 24 cha: 8 will: 17 memory: 16
I obviously have +3 implants but im just wondering if I should continue my learning skills. I got about 1 mil sp into learning. I have all the basics to 5 besides learning, and willpower. And I trained the rest to the advance ones to 2-4.
Now, I figured out the estimated time I have left for training for a HAC. Its roughly 30 days. Than, to train for all the t2 mods, it would take another 30 days. Would it save me time to just train now for all that stuff or would it be faster to just go ahead and finish up the basic learning skills? Its just a +2% learning speed increase and 5 will power im missing out on. It would take 20 days to train that stuff up.
Edit: I will only need willpower to train up for gunnery and to train HAC to 5. Look at my perc however, it should make up for it, right?

I would train all adv to lvl 4, theres little point training them all to lvl 5, the time u lose training them would take roughly a year to make up in lost time

Edited by: Mordru Maligante on 10/04/2006 23:46:05 If I understand you correctly, you are asking about maxing out the remaining basic learning skills to 5. I think that it is a very worthwhile investment; however, if you max all of the basics to 5, it wouldn't be very bright if you didn't at least train each of the advanced rank 3 skills to level 3. If you don't plan on training anything with Charisma in it anytime soon, then don't train presence. Just my 2 cents.

Edited by: Murauke on 11/04/2006 03:33:50 omg! i just said what im asking above
"Would it save me time to just train now for all that stuff or would it be faster to just go ahead and finish up the basic learning skills?" it would take 20 days to do that when I just need 60 days to train up everything that i need to a HAC and the t2 mods

Edited by: Darien on 11/04/2006 04:49:27 you cannot effectively fly a HAC w/ 4.7M sp. sorry, thats the truth of it. if i were you i would just be smart about it and invest the 20 days in finishing up your learning skills now so that you can start reaping the rewards of faster train times sooner.
you have +3 implants and you are training for a pvp exclusive HAC. you will eventually lose those implants. to answer your question, no, you will not recoup the full loss of 20 days train time towards learning skills within the 60 days of training left for your vaga. you will recoup it eventually.
bottom line, if you want to realize the full potential of your char you will have to train those basic skills to lvl 5 and the adv to lvl 3-4. why not do it now?
i hope that answers your question. no need for a 'wtfbbqyaar!omg111!f1f2f3'. we are just here tryin to help YOU out.

If you were to go for a vagabond, train certain skills before Mechanic Engineering Gunnery Navigation because vagabonds require good skills to fly them along with all hacs and if you only have 5million skillpoints your definatly not 100% ready to fly it, get skills such as the Armor/Shield Compensation skills, all of the navigation skills to lvl 4-5 because the vaga is a speed machine, the faster and the less cap needed for the mwd is better for the vaga, also you will need high Autocannon skills because you will need to pump the power into the opposing ships, also train for tech 2 drones, if you come across any pesky frigate fleets, tech2 light drones make quick work of them, and are very handy, but plz dont go filling your low slots of stabs and being a griefer to the things you only know you can kill, cus thats lame :)

You also need to know how to fly a Vag, and afford to buy them.
You'd be better off starting in an insurable AC Tempest to make the cash to buy them for pvp.

Edited by: Murauke on 11/04/2006 18:52:00 Thanks for the advice, but I really don't need it. I actually know what I am doing and I actually bought a vagabond already and all the modules. I already have 1 mil sp into navigation. By the time I get done training (60 DAYS) I will have 7-8 mil SP, so please don't use my current SP I have now and saying it is to low to fly a HAC.
But lets see... After all the requirment training is done to fly the vagabond, that just leaves me left to train shield, drone, and gunnery skills. That wont take no time at all, as you saw before, I have 24 perception which will train those gunnery skills in no time. So please don't be telling ME that I am not qualified enough to fly one and saying its not a good idea.
All I asked was a simple question, I like some advice, but I am not looking for that advice right now.

its a bit silly to ask for help, get it and then patronize people tryin to give YOU advice for YOUR problem.
Quote: I actually know what I am doing and I actually bought a vagabond already and all the modules.
if you know what you are doing then why post at all? sorry if it wasnt the answer you 'wanted' to hear but its the answer you got.
Quote: By the time I get done training (60 DAYS) I will have 7-8 mil SP, so please don't use my current SP I have now and saying it is to low to fly a HAC.
no one here said you WON'T be able to fly a HAC. the posters said you CAN'T effectively fly a HAC for a good while. you asked if you should train up your learning skills and the resounding answer has been yes.

why not take advantadge of faster train times sooner? you are GOING to lose that +3 implant eventually. don't rely on it.
Quote: But lets see... After all the requirment training is done to fly the vagabond, that just leaves me left to train shield, drone, and gunnery skills.
now this is disturbing. i assume this means you cant field t2 drones, shield tank or med proj? why rush to train cruiser lvl 5 now then? you obviously know what is needed but your order is out of whack. if i were you i would have all the support skills and gunnery skills in shape before i tried to fly a 100M+ cruiser.

Whats wrong with you? I said 60 days I have left for training for EVERYTHING. I am not going to be flying a vagabond without full t2 modules.

Edited by: Lowfyr Startamer on 12/04/2006 15:03:49 Well, personally, I think I'll do perception and willpower to 5 anyway, just for the heck of it. But, I'll catch up with charisma anyway. O.o

Edited by: Valium Summer on 12/04/2006 16:51:17 Learning skills are a necessary evil.
If you can figure a way to play within your current SP range, and train your learning skills you'll obviously be better off in the long run.
Sadly, I'm training them right now. I hate them.

murauke, is english not your first language? you seem to be having some real trouble with understanding some of these replies. no one has posted that you eventually wont be able to fly a vaga correctly. just seems smart/wise/opposite of what you are doing to go ahead and finish your learning skills. you probably wont get back the lost training days within the time it takes you to fly a vaga but you will definitely see it later down the road. besides, most of those support skills dont have perception as the primary skill. you will see a big difference with higher mem/int when you go to finish drones/shields.
train today, for tomorrow. everyone should train their adv learning skills up. its a serious advantage that CCP has given to new players. wish they had been around when i started
