Ok I got this bug today... 10mins before a big fight.
Anyone know a way around it besides deleting something in settings that will mess up bookmark folders?
check it here
It kind of resized due to the massive fleets and... sort of restarted from the top... or something.
Now the cursor doesn't change so I can resize it so I dunno what

Well, since you don't want to clear your settings, here are somethings you could try. I have no idea if it'll work, though.
1. Undock with out drones, if you use them. Might get the overview to work, since there'll be less components in it.
2. Go into windowed mode, if not already. Then set Eve to a really high resolution (vertically at least). Maybe that will make the overview work long enough for you to resize it, before changing back to your normal resolution.
3. A combination of 1 and 2.
Hope it helps,
Vala D.

Edited by: Vala Draaken on 12/04/2006 16:00:54 Last time I had to clear my cache and Settings I just bought some cans, named them the same as my bookmark folders and moved the bookmarks from the folders and into the containers.
After clearing the cache and setting everything up again. I recreated the Folders and moved the Bookmarks back into them. Finally ESC menu and Quit, to save the new settings and folders.
Of course being an empire dweller, I barely have more than a 100 bookmarks, so the operation didn't take that long. Can't imagine how long it'll take if you have 1000's of bookmarks.
Just a suggestion,
Vala D.

Thanks guys.
As you can see in the pic, I was already in a pod... already tried to increase the resolution but no luck. The overview window just stays as if it's 1pixels tall exactly as you see in my screenshot.
I thought of redoing the BM folders in cans too, but having a gazilion of them for so many regions over the years... you can imagine it will take me just a week to do that with the speed BM's are now processed.
I'll wait a reply to my petition first since that bug was the main reason I lost a ship too... maybe the GM can point out another way to do it.
Thanx again and more ideas would be welcomed

Edited by: Lucci on 15/04/2006 04:40:34 I got the very same bug, also before a fight while messing around with my overview (resizing etc).
Tried everything I could think of, finally deleting the account specific settings helped. I.e. user_XXXXXX.dat in your EVE\cache\Settings folder.
You'll lose overview settings, go back to default UI colors and layout and so on, but at least you keep your character specific settings, like bookmark folders. ;)

Thanx man, that did the trick
Wonder what else was lost besides the obvious resolution, overview settings and drone groups.... that file was 140kb big |

Well the most important thing is that by deleting that .dat file you don't lose your bookmark folders... honestly I would have quit the game if I was to redo them... not kidding
The overview settings can be redone in 10mins tbh... drone groups might take more time but shouldn't be a problem. I haven't noticed anything other major so far from deleting that file... Just keep a copy of it incase there is something you'll miss too much...

I just had this bug too. For me, deleting the char_46137646456724352.dat file wasn't enough, I also had to delete the user_45216643623.dat file.
/afk, resetting my overview.

I get that bug every login, where the overview acts as if it is compressed, but actually they're all just minimized. Click on each one to expand it, and it lasts for the session.
Very annoying.

This also worked to fix a problem where everyone in my overview and chat windows was showing neutral, even though they had positive standings towards my corp/alliance. ---- huh? |
