Currently I am flying a destroyer around for level 2 missions, and am now thinking about what to shoot for level 3. I was originally planning to go for a typhoon as I love the ship, but not sure if I want to invest all that time into it. So far I have both Amarr/Minmatar cruisers to 3, so either battlecrusier is open, but I only have projectiles trained, lvl4 small, lvl3 medium. I have a good bit in drones as well. I also favor minmatar ships, but amarr are a very close second. So it would seem cyclone all the way.. except for the tank problem. I am fully specc'd for armor tanking, with only 1-3 level shield skills vs. level 4 mechanic/etc skills.
So would I be better off training up shield tanking or lasers is the primary question when doing level 3s.
Since I think the answer will probably train up shield tanking, anyone have any good guides on it as opposed to armor?
Thanks

I'd just like to add something to this thread...
Oh noes! The cyclone of prophecy has come! REPENT!
Anyways, if you want a typhoon, you want an armor tank. Get into the prophecy and train your tanking skills for armor to the max. The interesting thing about the prophecy is it can be reasonably set up without any lasers on. As it's only gun bonus is to cap consumption. ----

CYCLONE!!!!!!
i have soled all lvl 3s i have come accros in it
( but i have quite high skills )
set up 5x 720 arts ( i use t1 :D ) 3 heavy luachers 1x large t2 booster, 1x shield boost amp 1x invura sheild, 2x racil hardners gyro and fittings ( pdus etc )
4x med drones.
the artilly with heavy missilse can take out all cruisers sheilds out in one go and some times all of armour too. while you use frigs toill kill the frigs.

Fitting projectiles on Amarr ships is fine: 1. Amarr ships have a lot of power. 2. Projetile uses almost no cap and leaves your cap for armor repper/hardener.
Go ahead.

I would stick to one race, but my choice was minmatar, which is the most skill intensive race atm. By specialising in one race (first atleast) u get more out of the ship, since you dont fly around with unused SP's.
Sidenote Cyclone is more powerfull than the prophecy atleast when it comes to firepower.. a arty cyclone will do any L3 with decent skills.. and since its a shield tanker, u have the option to fit WCS to allow warpouts.

1 problem with fitting projectile guns on an Amarr ship, is the lack of tracking and RoF bonuses. Most Minnie ships have either or both. So I would suggest you fit a tracking comp and/or a gyro stab.
My 2.21 cents

Cyclone only has bonus to dmg, so gyro is really all I would need, but that would infringe on my armor tanking in the prophecy, hmm.
