Basically I am the same SP away from using either a heavy assault ship (Diemos/Ishtar) or large hybrid IIs (425MM IIs + spike yadda yadda 4tw?!?)
What do you think it better to train for first?

guns hacs are to overpriced, I'm trained for caldari and gal hacs yet rarely fly ether.
The only good fix is a DEAD fix |

id say hac's
but it really depends what you wanna do
it your gonna participate in fleet battles, go gun
as a mega with tech2 guns is perfect for this
if you wanna be in a gank squad, go hacs, since hac's are great for gank squand and a domi uses nos not guns
so it really depends on what your plans are

hacs are still not overpriced (yet)
i use an eagle for npc and can earn 50 mill / night easy or 100 mill+ with good drops (against gurista rats but would be good v serpentis too).
i use a deimos for pvp. its agile and as long as your careful (practice in a thorax first) you can reclaim the cost of ships fairly easy. i killed 1 bs 1 faction cruiser 1 bc 1 cruiser last night alone solo.
hacs are fun - you just need the starter isk + know what you are doing and you shouldnt lose one easy.

Guns then HACs. With medium (blank) 5 and (blank) cruiser 5, you'll do well in tech 1 cruisers. Also consider tech 2 battlecruisers down the line - they're cheaper than HACs!

Guns. Odds are t2 425s will rock on the teir3 Caldari BS.
It is a Caldari ship afterall.
