we get an important mission about once every 16 regular missions, but how does that counter really work?
is it a counter / agent, so you must do 16 missions for the same agent to get an important mission? is it by corporation? by faction?
if you do a few missions for a faction, and then go do missions for another faction, does the counter reset?
what if we do mission for agents of another level but in the same corporation or faction?
personally, i think it works with multiple counters, one for each level of each faction, so if you do level 3 and level 4 missions for many agents in a faction, or even in many factions, once you have done around 16 missions of a specific level within the same faction, you are offered an important mission of the same level, am i right?

I'm not entirely sure, but it works per faction atleast. I've ran missions for multiple corp' agents, at several levels and they all added up to the same single counter. I don't know if it also crosses over into other factions, I haven't tried that yet.

oh! but if it's a single counter / faction, then how does it work for the level of the important mission? i mean, if you do 10 level 3 missions and then go do 6 level 4 missions, would you get a level 3 important mission since you did more level 3 or would you get a level 4 important mission since the last mission before the important one was level 4?

It's 16 missions for a faction, on a level - doesn't matter which corp/agent within the faction.

Well, I am runing about 10 lev 4 agents, all from various Caldari corps. And, I've had as many as 4 storyline missions pending at once in the past, and had two pending just 3 weeks ago (Was offered the second before i had a chance to decline the first - so it's still possible to be offered more than one at a time). That suggests that the counter is by NPC corp at least and maybe even by agent.

Edited by: Isidriel on 12/04/2006 15:21:10 I've had multiple L4 storylines piled up as well. It doesn't suggest that the counter is by agent or corp. It suggests that after I completed 16 L4 missions and was offered a storyline, I ignored it and ran 16 more L4 missions - at which point I got offered another storyline. Lather, rinse, repeat.
And yes, this was with multiple agents across multiple corps.
If you are still skeptical, do this: 1) run 1 mission for 16 different L4 agents, all for the same faction, 2)act shocked and surprised when you get a L4 storyline.
It's 16 missions for a faction, on a level - doesn't matter which corp/division/ethnicity/sexual preference/hair color/agent within the faction.

how long does it take until you get the important mission offered to you? i counted completed missions, and i did 24 for the same faction, and still no important mission offered |

Same with me, often I go through 20-30 missions without an important one, and sometimes it's as few as 10.

I think it's the lowest level mission you ran that will affect what level storyline mission you will get. I ran like 14 level 4s and one or two level 3s and then I got a level 3 storyline mission.
