The Drone Control Unit I in the item database (under Drones -> Drone Upgrades) requires 7500 CPU to fit. Nothing has that much CPU, not even the titans, so what can you fit these too?

have you considered that it might just be a placeholder stat?

Way to go. Helpful answer in the new player section.

If you read the information on the item, you will see it offers +1 drone per skill level. On a previous patch, they made it so you can only control 5 drones total. One would and can assume that the cpu is so high, so that no one can equip it. since as far as i know you can not get past 5 drones total.
So, I can take a guess and say its a place holder stat. it should stop people form buying it.

I thouhght that Advanced Drone Interfacing took you above the 5 limit where as previously Drone Interfacing would have done that for you.

that's true, but don't mix up skills and modules

From what I understand, the Advanced Drone Interfacing skill lets you use the Drone control unit (one for each level). A Drone control unit allows for the control of one more drone. These are for carriers so that they can effectivly use the fighter drones.
Hope this helps - and sorry in advance if I'm incorrect.

From what I have seen, whever a mod has a rediculous looking CPU or Powergrid requirement there is a ship type that has a corresponding skill to reduce the needs for said item.
As it has been said, for Drone Control Units, the Carrier's special skill is a -99% (or somesuch) to the Drone Control Unit powergrid useage.
It's a fairly clever way to restrict the usage to the desired ship-type.

Since Carriers have no such bonus in the items database, I guess this is another example of the items database messing with my head. I wish that thing was accurate. :(

The Drone Control Unit I has a fitting requirement of 75 tf CPU and 75,000 MW PG.
As an example, a Moros (Gallente Dreadnought) has a PG of 575,000, and can therefore fit one or more of these.
The -99% CPU type of bonuses exist for Battlecruisers (Warfare Link modules) and Covert Ops ships (cloaking devices), for example.

Which only indicates that the item database is out-of-date. Check in-game data.
EDIT: Or use a more descriptive emote

well the skill is seeded, and and the bpo's is out... but you cant fit it on a carrier or any other capital ship... because tehre needs to be a bonus to reduce that crazy 7500 cpu req... i dont see what capital ship can fit it
the pg is right in line with the carriers/motherships
and its not a warfare link so it would not get the 99% reduced in cpu...
so here is something that is out but you cant use it

So I've no heard people are using these DCUs, though still no listed bonus to CPU nor Power grid on ANY ship/module/skill.... Anyone know what the deal on fitting this really is?

It has 7500 CPU usage, and carriers/motherships get a 99% bonus to it. Simple as that.
