Notice the XL ASB can use cap booster 400 or 800, but you get the same bang with a 400 as 800 and can load more 400's than 800's. This intended? Why doesn't it use 2 400's or 1 800?
-same for all the other ASB's. |

intended. There is no advantage to using a larger size charge. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

Yeah it's intended, it's kinda odd because normally cap boosters always go for the biggest size, but on the bright side this gives us a reason to use cap booster 50s and 150s which would otherwise be useless. |

I really don't understand why CCP don't change ASBs so that charge size actually matters. That or just get rid of accepting different sizes, because everyone only uses the smallest size (for good reason). |

The current system works fine IMO, charge size making a difference wouldn't change anything assuming it is not a nerf, as players would find out which one is more efficient and just use that charge so it would be the same. As for it accepting different sizes, there's no reason to change that either as although you always want the smallest size, there are niche cases where you would use a larger size such as running out and picking up more from a randon wreck (actually happened to me) or having fleetmates drop uou charges. |

Assuming recharge time (60 seconds) doesn't change i see pretty different options.

I just disagree. I think ASBs would be a lot more fun (and make more logical sense) if charge size mattered. Why does injecting 800GJ of energy into an XLASB provide the same boost amount or number of boosts as injecting 400GJ of energy? Just doesn't make sense.
If anything, I'd at least like to see something like 800s give two boosts per charge since they're twice as big. There's no real net change, using one is the same as using the other in effect, but at least there's some sense behind it. |

Because its easier not to? Module uses ammogroup, gives same boost regardless ammo, its easier to let it be than carve out an exception for no reason at all. Was the first of its kind. It would have been just as easy to code it logically rather than what it is now. And if one charge providing two boost cycles is too weird for EVE, then go the simpler path with different sizes providing different boost amounts.
That's just my thoughts on the matter though. |

The original intent was to give the smaller charges that rarely saw any use a purpose to exist. The module is balanced around the smaller charges. There just wasn't any reason to exclude people from using the larger charges, since using them only had downsides. The ability to fit oversized charges is still useful, since the ability to use multiple sized "ammo" is a nice feature, if the proper sized charges run out or aren't available for some reason. Such reason for example being you running out of ASB charges and having to borrow someone else's cap charges to keep going until you get to resupply. |
