Why should it be? He has to be in the same grid as the roid to mine it anyways..

I guess it could be if you're using the grid to hide from players.

I would really like a Polaris member to respond to this. They are hiding there from ppl not npc's because the belt is 200K+ in distance and the npc's dont attact this spot as I have sat here for hours.

So... mining in belts that are 200km big.. is an exploit??? Errr I somehow doubt it.. its not really anybodys fault that CCP made belts that are big __________________________________________

Obviously you need to read all the posts before replying. They sit in a different grid, so when you warp in you can't see them. But, you can find them eventually, trust me :)

It should be.
"...what possible harm..."
No, they are not harming others. But they are using a flaw in the game mechanics to profit.

That is my thinking. I just want to hear from a Polaris rep so I know for sure.

Hope they can fix the grid thing, the grids are kind of small.
I thought it was only an exploit to shoot another ship who's in a different grid, but I don't know if that's possible anymore.

Hidden belts/stations etc. are part of the game, to be able to mine them you have to find them and get there.
This means you can find and reach these people the same way you find and reach the roids, so I suggest you get of your lazy ass and do that instead of whining here.

Thumbar - these arent hidden belts u dullard - if you read the trail properly you would know that as stated there are grid lines in large belts once over this gridline the npc's and for that matter PC's cant see you and the pirates dont spawn in that half of the grid for whatever reason thus resulting in a profitable exploit - No-one is whining u muppet just asking whats CCP's stance on this issue and will they resolve it so that spawns occupy the field properly so as to negate AFK mining in such circumstances i.e. spawn in all the grids concerned in large belts

Most of the grid problems can be solved easily. Not by making the grids bigger like they did before i think but by loading not only the grid the player is in but all connecting grids.
This would unfortunately increase the lag a bit since more objects will have to be loaded bu any problem near gridlines will be gone. It will still be possible to move away from view but you would need to be 2 grids away, not just in the next grid.
There are still gates where the gridlines are very close by, there are still belts that are cut in half by grids etc. If you make grids bigger again then belts that are now ok will get the problem, gates that are now nicely in the middle of a grid can be put on the edge between 2 grids again.

Can someone explain this grid business anyway - I've heard it alluded to, but for example, if a grid is an area of space - i.e. with an asteroid field in it, then how do you get into another grid, while remaining in range of anything you might want to mine, - or shoot at in the case of other players?

I doubt it is an exploit, the pirates can only target at about 60km, if you are outside of their targetting range, they will not approach you or even acknowledge that you exist.

So mining is an exploit? Are you really that dull? These asteroids can ONLY be mined from there. I have found some of the fattest bistot rox ever in those areas.
These players are not immune from player attacks. These players are just as immune from NPC attacks as some other overly large belts where the NPCs warp in 80+ k away and never reach you.
BTW YOU should talk considering it was your lame ass corp that got petitioned for using the grid exploit at a gate in curse. At least miners are shooting rox and not players.

I fail to see how the fact that these roids are part of the same "belt" changes the fact that you are to lazy to use your scanner to find them. In fact the seeing that they are in the same belt you should be able to reach them in under 5 minutes.
