It seems as though the current time is ripe with the break-ups of entities new and old, and while I have never been one to follow the fashion, the fact is that the Cult is closing down. It has been a fun ride in the three years since our inception at the end of the beta, and during that time I hope our activities have made a good name for the corp and for our characters. Sadly though the corporation has been in decline for some time now, with RL pressures and unpopular changes to EVE driving people out of activity, out of the corp and out of the game entirely. As such I have decided to close the doors on the corp and lay it to rest for the forseeable future.
Everyone I have played with during that time has my utmost respect, and any corporation they decide to join is lucky to have them.
I believe ioctl and Mitchman will be forming their own corporation, and I would advise you to contact them for more information about that.

It were always intresting to seek for errors in fleet fights, in your vids. Because number of them were too little

6-10 months ago when I began the game I watched some of your videos, they probably inspired me to go down the PVP route, to this day your videos are all amongst my "cool" collection and so it is a big shame that you guys are disbanding.It would be a lie to say I didnt learn from them; discipline, skill and teamwork are just some of the things created the impression of professionalism, so this announcement is definitly sad news.
I wish your pilots the best in the future, in or out of the game

Merdekka has been the best leader a corporation can have and I¦m sad to see this day but it had to come. Despair will follow as our core has broken.
I am to this day unsure of what to do myself and what group of people to join up with.
The ones I love and respect has gone seperate ways, choice is hard.
No matter what follows this time has been truly amazing and everyone in cult will always be considered as allies no matter what side they now choose to take.
The game is evolving, for the better or the worse I don¦t know. But I do know that the changes in game will cause the demise of every great entity sooner or later just as in real life. New great corporations will follow and claim their fame and glory just as it should be.
For those of you it concern, wish you all the best of luck and hope you find what you are looking for. We will stay in touch.

Sad to see you guys come to this. Some of the best small scale battles has been with you and we loved every mimute you was around our area, wether killing or dying was always a pleasure.

Although this break-up was a long time coming it's still truly a shock to witness the end of a corp you've been with for nearly 2 and a half years. I couldn't have asked for a better group of friends to be a part of, and I really believe we had the best CEO eve has ever seen.
Though the name Cult of Cthulhu is probably gone forever now and several key members have decided to go their seperate ways, Mitchman and I will be keeping the corp going under a new name, along with what looks to be the majority of the remaining cult "refugees". I can only hope that what's left of us will be half as effective as CoC was under the new leadership..
btw we are still invite ONLY, so please don't ask.

Very saddening news, probably the best small unit PvPers that I have seen. Enjoyed the times fighting against you back in the NVA days, with your disbanding another part of the old EvE disappears.

You would hesitate to engage them? Why they were an awesome fight and you was always guarenteed a challenge when you fought them. If you're in it for the enjoyment wether win or lose then they were a perfect corp to fight. I fought them a lot, they were always friendly and i would often chat to them when i came accross in local. I lost a good few ships to them and downed a good few of theirs. One thing i can't say about any of the fights i had with them though was that i never enjoyed any of the fights we had.

As previously mentioned the cult has now been reborn under a new name, the Omniscient Order. Though we have lost our CEO as well as several other very skilled members, we do intend to remain as ruthless as ever in our upcoming endeavours as a mercenary corporation.

This is a very sad time for me as it is for every member of the Cult they have been like a family to me never running from fights even if they know that they are going to loss a ship.

B. I have joined Omniscient Order today on invite from IO who fell off his chair when he saw me in game :) and will be flying with my Old Cult buddies hurrrrah.
C. Im still as nuts as I always was and will always go down with my ship shouting "have at you, you varlet" and all that.....
I am sure we will continue the Cult tradition of causing mayhem wherever we go :)

I only really know the cult from their videos, which were all awesome.
I one day hope to be a corp like CofC who are known for ingame action and never seem to bring anything to the forums apart from kickass videos.

I've been going through the last 6-8 weeks of forum backlog, trying to catch up, and work out what's been going on, and I come across this.
I am saddened. You guys always kept SPVD on our toes, and watching our backs. You will be missed.
Glad to see some of you will continue the tradition though.

Those of you who don't read Lovecraft have probably often wondered the meaning of this seemingly gibberish phrase. It's meaning is actually:
"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
This couldn't be more true at this point in time. While we plan to continue the mercenary business the "hibernation" of the cthulhu name has left us all in mourning.

OOps im a bit late in replying.
This is a shame to see CoC dispaned. When people ask me which corp i admire in Eve i always say CoC.
I hope that you may reform in the future and pick up where you left off before any decline started. You have my respect and always will CoC is a corp i will never forget.

Damn, I was pretty sure I had written something here a month ago!? Nonetheless, I never flew with or against you, but ofc your vids inspired me almost as much as "das bot"(old skool celest vid) inspired me, when I started playing eve. Doing merc jobs with such a small group, takes alot of dedication from all members. Glad to hear that the legend lives on, in another shape. Don't know, if it will ever feel the same, but then again, all good things must come to an end someday.
Hopefully Merdekka has passed his legacy onto You.
