This may have been beat to death already, but I seem to recall hearing about the ability to customize what your ship looks like being implimented. What ever happened to this?

but it would be nice to let us choose at least between some already present sets of camos ( = different skins)

think before you post.
would a fleet of 100 ships with customised skins create more or less lag? |

The option to either render or ignore other player custom skins could be added I'm sure.

The ability to customise certain aspects of your ship (i.e. its corporate identity) was touched on in the current issue of E-ON during the article on the forthcoming graphical updates:
"[...] high on the wishlist has been the functionality to add corporation logos to ships. EVE's CTO is happy to predict that such a feature is more than likely, and of course, will be optional."
On the cards, then. |

And to add to the wrongness - imagine Thorax in various skin colors.
...so very, VERY wrong.

Well think about it and you will easily find that this is an entirely stupid request, and the answer spells L A G. There is enough lag already, and in the one big beginners PvP guide thy even recommended to load all faces (!) of your corp members before the battle to minimize data rate and therefore lag. I really don't want to have my poor line load every jocks corp logo and individual camo crap.
Well I don't intend to offend anyone, but I really think they left it out for good reason.

Think its about to remind people of my idea.
Each BPO and BPC has one of four or five skins on it. Nothing tacky.. just normal, silver, camo, black etc. That way, if your picky about skins you pay a premium on escrow for your pimped out purple ships, and if you don't care you buy off the market and get what your given.
No increase in lag becuase its the same as adding more ships to the game DB, and no horrendous pink paint jobs (no offence intended eris).

Of course it is nice to paint things (put a sunflower and a rainbow on your megathron, or bumper stickers on your frigate) but I think the artists did a very good job (expect for the Thorax' front windows). Amarr look great with their pimp-ish gold painting, Minmatar theme is about texture, not color, and Gallente and Caldari... well they'll have to live with it :p

Edited by: Geraldo on 16/04/2006 12:12:23 Sounds like a good idea, try this instead:
Alliance and Corperation Logo Imprinted somewhere nice on the battleship.
EDIT: Sorry didn notice the idea above :)

An idea might be to have a colour pallet setup for corp ships/alliance ships. The ceo director sets 3 colours (like the corp logo) and this is applied to all ships in that corp, kinda like a uniform sort of thing. It could give ships in different corps and alliances a more unique look like faction ships have from regular T1.
