I currently run eve on two different computers. I find that nothing is transfered through EVE, this is annoying with over 2000 bookmarks. I don't have folders transfering or anything so they all just get massed into one big group and I constantly have to sort them. Any ideas on how to get the same EVE set-up on both computers?

Copy your catch folder from the one with working folders

Read "catch" as "cache" and that should help.
I would really like it if EVE stored more data on the server/in the Application Data section of a user profile so it roams around with me. Like that'll ever happen though. ______________________

Ialso play other games, and that is what most of them do. I was surprised about the amount of local content that eve contained, yet you can't change things like bookmarks without first connecting to the server. If all this information is stored locally, as it appears to be, then I should be able to quickly copy BMs by simply just copying a folder or some files. I don't mind but I also know BMs take forever to copy, yet they are supposed to be local. I have a AMD 3800+ dual core, so it shouldn't take forever. If someone could explain what is up with that now, that would be nice.

Actually, all you need to cpoy is the Settings folder in the cache folder. This will transfer all your BM folders , plus Buddies folders.

the BMs are stored server-side, only the folders are local. Since a BM is just a 3-D co-ordinate it would be easy to make un-scanable safe-spots if they were stored on the client.

Edited by: Roue on 18/04/2006 17:11:03 Or you could use a sorting system that allows you to folder sort 3000 bookmarks in 45 seconds like I do. Personally most of the ways people run bookmark setups and their folder systems are so ridiculously over complicated it's hysterical.
Here, I donate my system to you.
Folder 1. Nexus * __System Name___ (This BM is for your focal to any nexus gate systems)
Foder 2. Gate -- Gate __Destination System___ <-- __Departure System____
Folder 3. Gate Travel ^G __Gate System Name___ (From Nexus) ^G^S ____Gate System Name____ HQ (From key station in system to gate ie: HQ, Base of Ops, only station etc )
Folder 4. Station Travel ^S __station abbreviation___ (Old Nexus to station BM's) ^S^ ___station Abbreviation___ (New any direction BM's to station since size increase.)
Station abbreviation works as follows. Amarr V - Moon 4 - Ishukone Factory Outpost = 5.4 IFO ie: ^S^ 5.4 IFO
Folder 5. Belts ^B __Belt Position Name___ (I use premapped locations along belts with maximum rock coverage and a system, ie: from left to right 4 locations in average in a belt to access all rocks in belt.) ^B 5-1-3 (Planet 5 Moon 1 Asteroid Belt position 3. Makes really easy for miners to call locations for haulers to send in)
Folder 6. Miscellaneous ^M __Whatever___ (Use this for any BM's given that don't fit into the above, other people's, special locations etc. Keeps them out of the sort.
Folder 7. Autopilot ^A ___System Name____ (Great for quick set autopilot for common locations)
Now how is this all easy. Simple, on a fresh install I make the folders as numbered to keep them sorted. I then take all ^A bm's and put them in folder 7, all ^M and put them in Miscellaneous. Etc etc, it all sorts so easily with name alphabetically. Put the * ____ bm's in Nexus and all that is left are gate - gate bm's. Toss those in folder #2 and you are done.
Takes me on average 60 seconds to sort hundreds or thousands of BM's from a fresh install. And as the system already filters bookmarks out which aren't in your system, who needs other silly "pipe" systems which only work in painful manners.

Can you clarify what you mean by "Focal" and "Nexus"? |

Yeah that's so damn simple I'm slapping myself for making folders for the different regions...no wait...
