Could someone give a simple clear explanation of what's going on to those of us who haven't been playing for years?
Have any of the other big alliances annouced a united responce to BoB?

Are you kidding? We fight like bickering schoolkids if a single (empty) hauler is destroyed by mistake, or by a rouge member.

Simple, BOB are a PvP Allaince, for people who live to PvP. Too many NAPS mean less targets in 0.0.
End of story.
No big politcal backstory ..... Every true PvP corp will resend most of its NAP from time to time.

It's a bit of a forum ***** situation. BoB is a well-put-together alliance, and stronger for the addition of atuk, but they're just one alliance that controls 2 regions, out of many.
That they managed to get together 600 pilots to put down 400 in EC-P (1k in local 4tw) is a testament to their political power - they had all the rest of the North helping them in some capacity. The fact that Eve hadn't seen a fleet so large before, and at some point BoB made the RP claim that they would dominate the universe, seems to have frightened forum-dwellars who can't concieve of the difficulty one has in holding 3 regions.
Their abandonment of friendly standings is what proves that the 'conquor all eve' thing was a joke, rather than a delusion.

Well they have been busy making ASCN their whipping boy all weekend. Maybe the hobbits will wake up and figure out its better to attack than defend. I doubt it but maybe.

Dude, the hobbits have been instructed NOT to attack us in anything other than very small gangs so this won't happen.
Those small gangs have been coming and attacking however, which shows they have more balls than most.

BoB is and was a strongest alliance for quite some time. They have a claim to dominate all of the 0.0 in Eve. Recently they've reset their standings to everyone, and claimed that they want to "visit" many regions in Eve.
The responce from many aliances was: OMG, let's NAP and fly together to gank... someone else. Now they are crying, that they are under attack , like it was hard to see that exactly this thing will happen.

Some people may see the resetting of standings as a silly move, even by BOB.
But people need to realise that BOB is full of PVPers. It got to the point where it seemed that most of 0.0 was blue to us. PA/NBSI disbanded, leaving less non-blue alliances. Of those that were left, only G could have been considered any kind of opposition that would require an alliance level response. Much as we enjoyed fighting G, the game was starting to get stale for some people in BOB. A PvP alliance with no targets is doomed.
Suddenly, with a single forum post, the standings got changed. The south was no longer blue. And alliances with the strength and guts to stand up to BOB have done so. Tribal Souls, FIX and ASCN have fielded fleets to face us in the past weekend. 230 BSs killed in the past few days, loads lost. Outposts destroyed during deployment.
BOB members are having fun again. There is a genuine excitement in the alliance. People logon and find there's action to be found everywhere, constant reports of enemy groups and people requiring help. And we're loving it!

When the Galactic Empire (BoB) rules the universe with iron fists, there will be a Rebel Alliance to fight against the Empire. Until then, let the sleeping dog lie.

Alliances won't put aside their differences and crush BoB because they're all foolish fools that won't listen to me.
What we need is a good John Sheridan to bring everyone together.

So BoB are like Shadows?
I am sure the head honchos and regular BoB pilots look at all this talk and speculation about them and get little ego boosts.
Anyway, they are big, they are organised, they can protect their members, seems like a solid alliance.
Hell, I would join Satan and his army of fallen angels if it could benefit me.

Why do you need everyone in eve to form up to do it, your so called alliance goons too weak to try it on their own. You are all mouth as far as i am concerned. Your pathetic little alliance can't do **** alone against us , prove me wrong otherwise

BoB provides a service to the rest of the 0.0 community. Lets face it, 0.0 corps and alliances NEED pvp. Without it, the only other options are to mine or kill the same NPC over and over again. In order to keep things interesting, BoB looks around the map... sees that an alliance is basicly doing nothing intesting... and trots off to make their in-game lives fulfilling once again. Hell, CCP should pay them for this. Im sure it keeps a good number of the older players paying for their accounts. =)
