Are you absoluety sure of this?
Bug in packet construction? Isn't that ISO Network Layer kinda stuff?
GPU related?
What?

Malformed packets... game stalls
GPU - Graphics, on lesser systems, texture and poly draws ect = FPS dropping to 0
Basically P.O.S. Computers and crap networking

I wouldnt blame the BoB commander for one second for using the regroup command when he did. They're absolutely right it's a perfectly valid tactic to stop one poor sod being called primary and seeing his ship melt within 5 seconds of uncloaking.
I do however think it's a shame that it also causes lag, really after these upgrapdes the size of fight last night wasn't so big that lag should have been an issue, escpecially after the cash CCP have put into new equipment.
I'm really frustrated here mainly because this could have been a really brilliant fight for both sides, regardless of who won/lost, but lag turned it into a gankfest.
C'mon CCP, get your act together here.

I really hope that regrouping order was activated to decloack all the fleet at the same time and not to cause extra lag for the defenders, but we'll never know this.
From the fleet battles I was in, I can say, that the side that is defending has a bigger chance of getting lagged out than the side that jumps in. I don't know why, it's only my observation.

blacklight did it to cause lag intentionally.
He also kills old people, eats babies, kicks puppies, and cooks kitties in the microwave.

WTF, Audrea hush pls, no one can predict lag, cpp is trying their best to fix it and everyone hates it, sounds like you had fun ppl.
Hans, what I meant is that you can see lag being major factor for fleet battle in EC-P for example - they used it to prevent others from trying to counter the asault. And in this thread as they said (and bob didnt deny) - the commander regrouped the people to decloak everyone in same time - obviously abuse of lag.
It has now nothing to do with predictability, or blaming anyone for abusing it.
My personal bet would be that all of eve is going to learn from those tactics (I for example didnt know commander can do such things after jump, well now I do )
Nothing to do with lag. The 1st target to uncloak is allways dead. Regroup prevents this. That is the purpose of it.

your correct about the use of the regroup command, however if your so drunk that when you jump in you forget the smooth yorkshire accent being beamed into your head and decloak a nanosecond before to take on the primary target AND happen to be flying a char starting with "B" in a paperthin ceptor, then your toast :D as my lossmail showed :D
However i did sit there in a pod and sat back and watched the fight unfold knowing full well that the defending fleet had something better to be doing than podding me back to my clone station :D Shame i didnt have fraps :(
GF anyhoo's :D happy easter :D

I didn't feel any lag at all during that fight, which is interesting considering we were the ones who jumped in.

I was actually quite surprised at the lack of lag.

20 seconds of lag in my side when BoB jumped-in, but after the initial lag period, the battle it self was lag-free for me ..... although that didn't save my cruiser :(
Anyway ... it was fun :) thanks to everybody ... cya in the next BF.... Happy Easter
