Ok, I just finished mining all the veldspar ore that my ship can handle. Now every time I try use (Activate Gate) a jump gate, the tutorial keeps telling me "you first need to be in the 2nd pocket of the dead space complex" or something like that.
What is this "pocket" that she keeps talking about? How do I locate the "2nd" pocket. I don't see any numbers anywhere when I warp to any of the other deadspace complexes. I seem to be stuck in a loop just warping around space trying to find this mythical "2nd pocket of dead space".
HELP!

Just trying logging, sounds like your computer is reading jump gates as deadspace gates. Jump gates should show "Jump" instead of activate gate anyway. Also try and set a destination in the map browser, then use autopilot and see if it still won't let you jump.

I take it your in the tutorial complex?
The second pocket of deadspace should be where you are after you've taken the second acceleration gate. Make sure to be following with the tutorial before jumping ahead. ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - 0.0 Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

Yes, I am still in the tutorial section. Ok, let me see if I understand this correct. When I was at the home base (Star War Academy), in the overview I saw several "Dead space complexes" shown. I just warped to any random one when asked to do so. Once I reached this deadspace, I see a gate. Fought a few automated practice pirates (ships with red cross icons) and then activated the gate which took me to another gate. Does this mean I am in a different dead-space complex? Or does every dead-space complex have many of these gates? Could not see anything in the FAQ about this.
I guess I got unsynch'ed with the tutorial at some point. Perhaps my best bet would be to reset the game and start again, but I hope you good folks can help me avoid that.

Deadspace complexes are usualy broken up into series of steps with acceleration gates linking them.
My suggestion would be to restart the tutorial at the right point. Hit F12, and open tutorials. You can pick the flight tutorial, and go through it again.
Good luck, and welcome to EVE ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - 0.0 Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

I had the same Problem. It was very annoying and I had to quit the Tut... Very sad as this game cannot be played without Tut :(
More usability (especally for noobs) would be fine!

You don't need to restart the tutorial, above Aura(?)'s face should be some blue squares, these represent pages in the tutorial, click on one that is to the left of the last filled in square. This should only set you back to a prior section of the tutorial. P.S. when in the tutorial deadspace mission, don't leave before completing it or you wont be able to re-enter the complex, which, of course, won't allow you to finish the tutorial. If this happens, which I believe is what happened to you, just do a little blue square clicking again.

Thanks for all the responses. I tried to go a step back into the tutorial (hit F12 and then select the flight tutorial again), but it started off the point where it wanted me to dock and undock from the station. But I couldn't do that since I was still in dead-space. In the end, I created a 2nd identity and restarted the tutorial from scratch - going really fast through most of it. I finally managed to complete the first dead-space.
And now I am into navigating using "set destination" and "waypoints". Thanks again to all you guys.
