By merchant I mean buy stuff at some station at low price and selling it someplace else for high?
Is profitable compared to doing agent missions or mining? And is there a guide for this somewhere?
Thanks "Dont know who was ****** with" |

Yes, it is extremely profitable. I don't practice trading myself, but there are many who do that visit this forum. Also, read this article in the Market Discussions forum to get yourself started. ----------------------------------------------- "Eve is a sandbox. Pick up a shovel and make yourself a castle."

An alliance mate makes several, several million on the market regularly. He is good at it and has patience to wait if the prices arent high enough to sell. _______________________________________________ I am the devil, and I'm here to do the devils work.

Very profitable if you have time and patience. I regularly make several million per haul. You just have to know what goods are the big money makers and watch the market.

It certainly is one way of earning a living. I'm rather new to EVE, but I find trading to be quite profitable. The "fun part" for me is keeping the hold full at all times. Just like a long haul trucker, I dislike driving around empty. A small profit is better than running empty for a pick-up.I started with an Iteron II and paid for it, and all the equipment, after two hauls. Been making money ever since.
Just be sure to check your maps for pod kills, etc - when going into unsecure space. Haven't been below 0.2 yet myself.

According to DS, if he's only making several millions, he's doing something wrong.

Aye, theres a good bit of money to make in trading. I've seen a few people who can buy minerals, then transport them to another station for a few ISK a peice profit. Sure, 100ISK on 1k Megacyte is only 100000, and you probally had to risk your neck to get it there for that much, but its a start.
I suggest using the regional market and Trade goods to try and make money. Found a 10 jump round trip run selling Livestock that brought in 400k per trip.
Also remember it takes money to make money, Having 10mil set aside for Trading only is a good Idea, that way you can actually afford to lose the stuff. Also note that sometimes, a trade route that seems to good likely is, Avoid Lowsec w/o an escort if you can

Edited by: HairyGary on 17/04/2006 16:06:16 In short, no.
It's boring and a waste of time.
Go mine or run missions or twiddle your thumbs.

No, this is not a blatant attempt to limit competition. Honest. Really. I mean it.
