Well at least Nival and Ubisoft has terminated their contract with StarForce for the upcoming Heroes 5. Wohooo!!
I got the demo (not the beta). And seriously, it's pretty messed up atm. Lot's of report that the game always crashes on various circumstances, especially laptop user  . I just hope they fix this issue soon. And hopefully my laptop can run this wonderfull series when they releash it!

dunno. I love the series, but the last one was a crappy piece of rushed out trash. =/
I'm cautiously optimistic because development is in new hands, but I dunno - can these things still be good after the fifth incarnation?

My wife swears by HoMM 3 for some reason, and I've seen a lot of people considering it better than 4. How does this one compare to 3?
I might have found a gift for her :)

from what I've read and seen...too early to make any sweeping statements, but it's promising.
The problem with HOMM IV [at least with my experience...I dl'd the game, and deleted it in disgust a few days after]was that they tried to go 3d with the battles, and failed miserably.
The unit models were godawful - really bland and poorly designed (like the Pirates...they say 'yarr'. Great! They say 'yarr' every time they hit and are hit. Not so great.
Add in the fact that there were also far less units, far less buildings, poor campaigns equipped with hammy voice acting (though in fairness the HOMM storylines in general are crap to the extent that any voicing, no matter how good, is going to make you cringe)...and you end up with a load of ****.
If I were you...get the demo of V first, try it yourself, and judge from there.

HOMM V 4TW OMG
It's just heroes III with better graphics! I will definitely maybe buy stroke download this for free!

I like software companies that treat their users with respect and are content to put out content expansions/upgrades good enough to bother registering.
