Why, please, why do we have to click it EVERY time we load the game? Please, I want to know, why? You've even made it so that we HAVE to click it when there used to be a workaround!
WHY? It's a really small thing, it is daft - I play with 2 accounts and 2 characters on each account, I relog a lot - I've managed to get rid of the splash screen that hovers on top of EVERYTHING and blocked what I was trying to do, now I've got the damn EULA all the time?
Please, remove it. Change the EULA to something like "By playing this game, you agree to the EULA", and put it in flashing letters on the character selection screen.
Many thanks.

yes i HATE this. it's even worse that you have to log in again with password and all. Esp if yuo crash with your battleships and ships shooting at you. You now have to add 1 for "yes", 8 "for password" 1 for login and one for choosing the one char i always play with. So that's 11 key presses i could live without. And the time it takes to load all the screens in between is also terrible. It would be very cool if you could put an icon on the desktoop with "Log in with Phoibos". Even if they have the eula they still could have this icon so you just have this ONE button click. /Phoibos

Why not make it so as to only force display of the EULA for the first login after there's a change to it and make it available on request otherwise.
Everyone playing (should) have at least read the current version once and not many are likely to read it every time its shown.
Just my humble opinion. |

Seems the latest patch made the client disregard quite a few prefs.ini (EULA, supressed dialogs etc.). networkAdvanced=1 to get that "Remember password"-box stills works though ... --- Implement forum search already!!! |

Hey, while your screaming about this game, scream at the AO dev's too, cause I have to do it there as well.

The reason it's there is because by hitting accept, you agree that you've read and understand your rights. If changes are made, you've agreed to them. It's a legal thing with all mmorpgs. It wont go away.

Even in that case, once pr patch aought to be enough.
The move away from the plaintext prefs.ini sucks big time in my opinion. One used to be able to manually fix a lot of problem be cleaning up entries in the file. Old enabµe autorepeat etc, and more importantly, change settings for the map when u clicked color by my assets or some other feature that didn't work resulting in you pressing escape and thereby saving the problematic setting.
Now u can only delete the files under settings. which means using the now defunct mail browser to read all my mail again, resort bookmarks etc.

This was addressed months ago. The answer was "blame the lawyers, they say we have to"
So just suck it up, and be mean to an ambulance chaser the next time you meet one.

If the lawyers are saying it is required then they are lying through their teeth. It should only have to be agreed once, and then once per change to it. Obviously it isn't going to be changed unless something is uploaded to yoru computer from them which typically only happens with patches. If we really needed to agree to licesing statements everytime we started up... then why don't we have to agree every time we start up windows, and then for each of the programs that auto loads, and for each time you login to an internet based email... I think Microsoft is a bigger company and would have more issues with pirated software and they don't require it.
It is highly annoying, aggravating, and inconvient.
It appears that there was an attempt to fix alot of things that did not need to be fixed and as a result things that worked fine before, don't work at all or barely at all now. I almost would rather go back to the previous patch than deal with all these new issues. "I can only take so much before I'll blow up my own ship. Hey isn't that what insurance is for?"

The answer is pretty simple really.
Just make it so that the EULA only appears again if its changed. voila.

This needs to be changed to you only have to agree to it every time it changes, AND there is bold lettering on both the user / password & character selection screens saying 'By continuing you accept the ELUA available at [URL]'
I am sure there was a case in america somewhere that argued against the eula because of this very issue. By forcing us to hit the accept button every time then it can reasonably assumed that 1 of 2 things will happen 1) The ELUA ALWAYS changes 2) The ELUA NEVER changes.
If 1 is true then I'll cancel now bacause I don't want to have to read and agree to a different licence EVERY time I start the game.
If 2 is NOT true then the lawers have shot themselves in the foot (and CCP). By making us always agree we assume that there has been no changes since we last read it (unless there is drastic changes in the layout of the first page). It always prompts us, so it's effect has beome another 'click here to continue' button.

Even in the EULA it mentions about removing this stupid screen...
Quote: By clicking the ôACCEPTö button below, and confirming your acceptance by clicking the ôCONFIRMEDö button (or if you bypass or otherwise disable the ôACCEPTö and/or ôCONFIRMEDö buttons, and still install, copy, download, access or otherwise use the Software or the Game), you accept the terms and conditions in the EULA.
It probably just another bug :S
