Some banks block their electron Visa's for internet use (for some weird "security" reasons) *rather for making you upgrade to a more expensive regular visa*
for example the National Bank of Greece Visa Electron won't work on internet transactions:)

no, visa electron is not accepted for eve subscription, Credit Cards, PayBy Cash (with all its possibilities) or Game Time codes only.

Edited by: Rina Shanu on 20/04/2006 12:22:02 I beg your pardon kind sir, but I do pay for EvE Online with a debit VISA Electron.
Please do not touch my subscription !!!!!!
For example if you live in Romania, you can get a normal VISA Electron card from most banks, like ING, BCR, BRD, etc. put the amount of cash in RON (Romanian currency) and fill in the details on the secure eve-online page. Hit Submit and voila, it works. i have seen a friend get 3 declines before accepting it (using a BCR issued card) but I now use an ING one and several of my friends playing EVE do the same and we have absolutely no problem at all.
PS. I did ask about this and the response was they accept credit cards as not in debit cards and some more details I can't remember. But it works for me so I'm happy. *** TRats - We ransom!!! *** |

Yes, most probably your bank also provides regular credit card service for your card, visa electron as in a pure debit card is not sufficient (last info I got)

If it is a pure debit card with a visa logo you can run it as a credit and it still acts like a debit. some backs block usages from companies taht they feel is ppl that are not legit. I have had a friend get his card shut off because of this. CCP bills through several different companies of which at least one comes on that list tht you have to let your bank know that it is alright for them to use.

Basicly what he said. Try asking some help personnel from the bank that u aquired the credit card. Ask them if they cancelled payment from the internet.I aquired a Visa Electron first from a bank and it gave me the same answer as u "Credit card not authorized".
Then i switched to ING and it worked. It is still a Visa Electron card. Maybe your solution is changing the bank. Hope u solve it soon.

I work in a supermarket in the UK.. the reason I state this is I know about which cards can be used for what in the UK..
ELECTRON cards are meant only for "swiping" (direct reading of the magnetic strip) as any other way of reading them "could" bypass the security measures in the cards
therefore ELECTRON cards should in theory ALWAYS be refused if on phone/internet
sorry

I have been using a Visa electron card to pay for eve for the last year and a half. I have never had any real problems with it.. Just today however i have got the Card Not Authorized [0069] error. After reading this thread i now fear that this card wont work with eve any more and i have no other means of paying for it, no other cards.

The 0069 error is something that is causing a lot of problems for a lot of people. See here:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=446965
I have 3 cards, only ONE is electron but the others are all being rejected with the same problem. The last communication I had with a GM on my 'open' ticket is that it's being looked into.
The only alternative they are offering at the moment is to buy the more expensive game cards.
File a petition and let them know. The more they get on this subject, the more they will realise how serious this is. After all, I refuse to pay more for a game than everyone else due to something that's not my fault, so if this isnt sorted, I will go play something else.

I had exact same issue. Try re-entering all your information exactly as is on the card like name, address etc. I assume you have enabled the card for internet shopping at your bank as it works in other places... |

I use Visa Electron to pay for both my accounts.. No problems what so ever. Every site that takes Only Visa/Mastercard has taken my electron so far. Never failed. Even on Virgin.net that even says it doesn't accept electron. It does seem dependant on your banks policy's.

Wait until your next billing date and I guarantee this will happen to you too. I've been using the same cardd for months with Eve and now the problems like most of the others.

yeah it'll be interesting to see if the payments continue. However i can buy 30day GTC's for less than 8GBP's from a reputable seller/Shop online. So no bother either way

I've used my electron card for over a year now. Everytime I got billed it would reject, but then re-entering the details would accept it. Now however I just get the [0069] error. Looks like I might have to leave eve... *sob* --- Current status: 29,999 players. Connecting.. Sorry, TQ doesn't have the skills required for 30k concurrent connections. Edited by: Johan VanDelft on 31/12/2006 13:50:25 Well, contact your bank. When my first normal monthly subscription was due, Eve was not allowed to bill my creditcard for some reason (same error message). After calling my bank they modified something on my account which allowed the billing provider of Eve to bill my creditcard. As far as the CSR could tell me, the billing provider failed to provide the CCV code for my creditcard (while they did provide it with my initial subscription fee) and that that happens a lot with recurring creditcard charges like subscriptions.
