I was having a 1v1 with someone at a planet in Mara earlier today, when a totally unrelated Crow warped in on us and started attacking me. Soon after about 6 or 7 other ships (about 3 BS's I think) arrived, finishing me off and soon after the other bloke... Now I suppose we could've been more careful and whatnot - and I already had my little rant about it in local, so this isn't a rant thread - honest.
I was just wondering what the general consensus is amongst pirates/pvpers. If you see people having a blatant 1v1 fight (i.e. it looks fair, and is at a planet or somethin, so not someone being ambushed in a belt) - would you interfere?

Yup, we would blow you both up.
Next time, try your 1v1's at a SS.

I probably wouldn't interfer if I knew it was an arranged 1v1.
Do it at ss next time.

I'd kill you both, and I'm no pirate. If you don't want people to "interfere", you should go about your business either at a safespot, or in 0.5+ (using can flagging).
Maybe you see a 1v1, but I see two vulnerable ships just begging to be crushed.
Now, dishonouring your own 1v1, that's different for me. It's nothing out of the ordinary for a duel to be intentionally abused by people nowadays, and it's a valid tactic, but it doesn't float my boat. The difference is that if it's your 1v1, you've given your word to someone that you won't ask your friends to come and win it for you. My honour is something that I hold dear. However, if I stumbled across two people who weren't smart enough to have their showdown somewhere private, that's just easy pickings in my eyes. I never agreed to leave them alone, so I have no obligation to let them go.
I hope you can see what distinguishes the two situations for me.

Against someone i didn't know, i wouldn't 1 vs 1 them because it would be too risky. However if i was fighting a pilot from a reputable alliance then i'd trust them.

Yeah fair enuff we should've been at a SS - but there's just no honour (or fun as I see it) in interfering with some1 elses fight unless you have some proper motivation (like protecting someone, or helping a buddy)... Especially with such a huge gank squad - which I guess is the thing that really bugs me these days.
Anyway, I guess all is fair in love and war.
Incidentally, it wasn't an "arranged" 1v1 as such - we both were at the same planet,we had fought each before and we both approached each other and targeted... Hence not using a SS.

If they were hostile to me, I would kill them both and check the loot cans.I would then have to insta out of the system for the driving urge scream in local that they are noobies would be too strong...
No, but really... take it to a ss,can flag or at least n empty moon.Sorry about your loss I would of been a bit upset at first myself.

Honour is overrated... if a easy kill is to be had then go for it. I don't understand why you find so many ships at planets, is there something at them I don't know about

i'd warp in, ransom them both, pod them both, smack them in local, petition their names as religiously offensive, join their corp with a noob alt and steal every single warp stab they have, and start a thread on the forums about it.
If those losers wanted to have a proper 1v1 and not be interrupted they'd have settled it in Internet Mini Golf, like real men.

Meh, i wouldnt have interupted your 1v1. Not saying everyone else shouldnt either, just saying i'm a bit old fashioned or whatever. I would have, that being said, killed the winner, as the 1v1 would be over at that point :D
(i do interupt other pirate's ransom attempts though, makes me feel all fuzzy inside freeing the victim from the ebil pirate)

One of the most humorous replies i've seen.
