Edited by: Lylas on 19/04/2006 04:09:05 I'd like to hire someone to do freighting for me, specifically to take stuff from one dock (in my items hangar) to another dock (also my items hangar).
1) Is this possible with a trial account? If so, what's the process like?
2) Is this possible with a normal account? If so, what's the process like?
3) What can I do to minimize risk?
I'd want to be able to pay them for their help also.
Keep in mind that I'm probably not dealing with someone in my corp.
Thanks for any help, Dave.

Its much much easier if you know the person...
Theres no game mechanic to prevent the person from running away with your stuff...
you can escrow the stuff to a person and have him/her escrow the stuff back to you at the dastination
this is possible with both trial and "normal" accounts
eventually though... maybe in the next expansion it would be easier to set up player courier missions that make sense |

I tried to help you eariler, but you didn't accept my convo. *shrug*
One way to do this would be a courier mission. However, if you're on trial I don't believe you can set those up. Essentially you package your stuff into plastic wraps and collect collateral from players to transport your packages from point A to point B for some reward you offer. At the end they get their reward and collateral back and you get your stuff delivered.
If they never deliver it, or break the package to see what's inside, you lose your items probably, but you gain their collateral and they get no reward. So make sure you set it high enough to cover the potential loss of items. -- Lil Miner |

Yeah, sorry about that, I was afk and by the time I accepted the convo you were gone. :)

What are these?
Quote: transport your packages from point A to point B for some reward you offer.
Can these be from the inside of a station to deep space (asteroid belt) and from an asteroid belt into a hangar?

Can I choose to not reward them even after they deliver, or is it automatic? Depending on who's working with you, this might not be feasible (due to them not having enough cash to cover say a $400,000++ shipment. However, even setting it at $200k would mitigate a lot of risk, as now as long as no more than 50% of people screwwed me I'd break even.
Hmm, I'll have to look up these packages on the market to check their info. :)
Thanks.

Courier missions are station to station only. The reward is automatic. ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - 0.0 Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

/sigh
I wasn't able to find plastic packages, plastic, or package on the market in my region.
What's the item that I should be looking for?
It should be noted that I don't have an office anywhere.

Dock at a station, and hit the "Missions" tab.
You can set up delivery mission there. You get to select which items you want to have shipped, the collateral amount, and destination. Items you place into these escrow missions will be automatically plastic-wrapped.
Make sure you don't have a zillion items in the one package... it might be too large for regular Industrial haulers. About 10k m3 is a good size, unless you're arranging for a full-fledged Freighter to swing by.
Don't blow it by forgetting to set amounts... you might end up just giving it all away for free by mistake. _______ Join our team of Industrialists & Miners |

Two things, and this is kinda funny.
1) Can you make your packages have contraband in them, then they get pulled over by customs?
2) Is there generally a brokerage fee for escrow?
3) (Apparently I can't count either.) Do you have to deposit the reward amount when creating the courier mission, and do you have instant access to the collateral as soon as someone picks up the package?

bizzump
I have a feeling that you DO initially lose the reward money, and that you DON'T get to keep the collateral during the time between them picking up and dropping off the package.
