Hows it everyone :-) Hope you are all well in and outside of eve ;-)
What I am in the process of doing, building a caracal, here is the layout, soooo I wanted to post it to get some feedback, and no i am not fitting webbies and Disruptors :p
Hi-Slots: 4x Malkuth Heavy Launcher 1 1 Medium Nos
Mid-Slots: 1x 10MN Afterburner 1x Medium C5-L Shield Overload 1x Medium Shield Extender 1x Invulnerability Field 1 (I have a 2 but cant fit it yet, will be able to in 5 days) 1x Cap Recharger
Low-Slots: 2x Reactor Control Unit OR 1x Reactor Control Unit 1x Co-Processor
Ok now I am still new to the game, been playing for roughly 2 months, so I am looking for any feedback on this ship ? I.E I need to increase its locking range and stuff....
I will obviously be flying a raven next, but I need to train one skill still so that kind of rules out that :-) As I said, once again, let me know where I can improve, rebuild etc :-)
Cheers

remove the nos thats quite useless in pve and try to get less low slots with rcu s. Replace them with pdu or balistic controls.

Still a valid point. up close with a caracal is a no-no -------------------------------------

I agree that the nos is utterly useless. You'll want to keep your distance, as the caracal tanks as well as a paper sheet. Not sure quite how far heavy missiles can hit, but I always settled for the 57km max locking range. Try fitting a sensor booster on there, though. Maybe instead of the invul field -------------------------------------

Ok, will take a look at the BCU or PDU idea, but then for the last high slot ? Because I am not one to leave stuff open... :-)

Your primary focus both in PvE and PvP should be damage and range, so I'd go with another heavy launcher. Or maybe an assault launcher if you go up against frigates a lot -------------------------------------

Just an idea, you seem to be having Powergrid troubles, training the skill engineering is essential to this game. Make it a priority. ----

Edited by: madaluap on 20/04/2006 06:14:53 i think the ubersetup was something like this:
5X heavy 2
large extender large exender 2X invulfield disrupter
2X pdu or a balistic control IF it fits..
more shields than you will ever boost in a pvp fight around 6 k i believe.. _________________________________________________ no sig :( |

This is about right, but I think an AB is necessary for keeping distance from the rats (so replace the disruptor with that). I also prefer swapping out an extender for a sensor booster (to target and hit from 70-80 km), and putting BCUs in the lows instead. You can kill the smaller BS rats this way without getting a scratch.

I use my caracal for PVE or team PVP... I will actually go as far as calling it a sniper, fiering from 70km... Get some corpmate to scramble and just sit back from a fair distance and blow them away... Forget about the AB... If a short-range, armortanking ass**** comes too close, WARP! Here is my bad excuse for a setup:
Hi: 4 x XR-3200 havies 1 x Dread guristas heavy (fitted with scourges)
Mid: Medium C5-L Shield Overload Invulnerability field I Large f-s9 regolith shield induction 2 x F-b10 nominal capacitor regenerator
Low: Type-d power core modification: diagnostic system 'pandemonium' i ballistic enhancement
YES! I know its foolish to use such a setup in PVP, But like i said... sit back from 70-75 km and have a heavy-missile-damage-fiest while your corpmates do the up-close-and-cozy-action!

highs:
Heavy lauchers
Mids: 10 mn AB shield booster 2 jammers Cap extender
Lows whatever need to fit
Take on cruisers and frigs
jammers are your best friend in this setup. and booster is backup. I've found that BC and up have too many points to jam in this setup.
Good luck.

I don`t agree on that one... If i get close enough to jam, I will get BBQen by a thorax... I`ve had some expensive closeups with my caracal... and its no good for 30> km combat...
Maybe a pilot with some more skills then me could do it...
And another thing... Why do ppl change out that last Heavy for some other **** on a PVP caracal... thats just... well... wrong!

Hi: 5 Malkuth (or XR-3200 if you get skills to fit) Mid: Sensor Booster, Target Painter, AB, EM hardner, Med booster Lo: 2x BCU
Get some missile skills trains to increase flight time and missile velocity - this will increase your range, you want to be shooting from past 90km ideally.
I also don't like the invuln on a cruiser, it takes too much cap.
If your worried about BS's more than approaching frigs swap the painter for a remote sensor damp (t2 very much preferred), unless they have 2 sensor boosters you'll stay out of their range.

Nice setup you got there You know, the XRs are T1... can use them at once! I`m gonna try and do some snipin with that there signal booster tho...
