Edited by: Rhone Darkbow on 20/04/2006 16:02:04 Question about loot I get after blowing up about 10 rats...
This is what I do with it...I take it to the station my agent is in that I did a mission for, and just quick sell all the loot I get...and reprocess anything that's under 1k isk...
Question is...am I doing the right thing? Because I feel like I'm doing something incorrect...
I apologize also if this has already been adressed, I'm just a tad lazy with the search button...

Instead of reprocessing items under 1k, how about choosing a % of below market value that you do? If you quick sell something for 10% of the going market price then you'd probably have made more from reprocessing it. Just a thought.

when selling loot, View Market Details is your friend.
A lot of scammers out there put buy orders for an EXTREAMLY low amount, then resale them at market value. Also, sometimes only 3 jumps away you can sell something for 5x the amount you could get in system. This is espically true for ships and such.
When you view market, Check the lowest sell price, then the highest buy price. If they are about the same, then your ok, but a lot of the time, espically the named items, the buy order is a ton lower.
You can put the item up for sell on the advanced sell options. Note you will need marketing skill to increase the viewalbe range.

You are proubably losing a LOT of money taaht way.
What you should do is take the items back to your base.. Check the market value of them and look at the mineral value if you recycle them. Often tims for mid to low end items you will get a LOT more by recling the item and selling the minerals then you will get by selling it on the market.. Thus the reason so many people buy the junk... the minerals are worth more. :) Also check the entire region.. Sometimes prices are MUCH better 2-3 jumps away.

Nice...thanks for the replies...that's more than I was looking for
Bottom line is...pay attention to the market then? Instead of just selling without a care...

I would give it a shot, I'm a pack rat though, Basic stuff won't sell to high, but if you run across a named item, such as a named gun, or ESP a named Nos, you can usually make a few k off of it.

I reprocess anything under 200k these days. Won't take you long to get to that stage :-).

With stuff above the "civilian" level, I put in a sell order for a high price, and set it at 3 months. I figure if it doesn't sell I'll reprocess it. I always set my prices too low. Typically, they sell in a few days.

Does that mean that other people will not be able to see items I've put up for sale, if they're not within the viewable range given by my skill level?
So, for instance, there could be a whole bunch of stuff for sale that I can't see, because the person who put it up for sale has low marketing skill?

No, thats not how it works. If you put something up for sale then anyone in the region can see that sell order on their market screen but they still have to come to your station to buy it.
The marketing skill increases the range YOU can be from the stuff you are trying to sell.

Also, don't just loot your mission stuffs and then go directly to sell. Accumulate some goods, say 20 small NOS's (lvl I,II missions ftw) and sell them in bulk for a week or so. Alot of times people are buying more than one and don't want to jump all over the place buying single modules for lower prices, they will instead just splurge on the higher priced items placed by the sellers with more items to sell (<--- holy crap, that's a long sentence! ) and...
