If I let someone from a different corp use a ship, they return to the POS and eject will the ship remain there indefinitely? I should mention they're using a shield password to get in.

Aything unanchored inside the shield can rarely and seemingly randomly be thrown out of it. I'm sure there's a cause but I ahven't found it yet. Someone stole a dread like this.

Update: Not only have I now seen things ejected from a shield, I have just seen things pulled in O_o. I warped from one of my POS to another and when I warped back again, the shuips that I had ejected from the shield weeks previously (turned the password on and off again. I did this to see then all fly everywhere :D). When I got back, the ships were all around the control tower instead of outside the shield.

The incident you are referring to had nothing to do with ejecting a ship. The dread was bumped out of the shields by someone who had the shield password and friendly standing (so the POS wouldn't shoot him). Then once it was outside the shield a pilot that was dread capable came in with his pod (POS don't shoot pods), boarded the dread and flew off.
I once found a POS that had no shield password and a ton of ships (3 BS, some cruisers and 2 t2 frigs ) that I was thinking about bumping out. Sadly the tower was configured to shoot everyone that wasn't explicity friendly (I lost a noob ship testing that . ) --

Help me put the pieces together on this. Are you saying that you can't leave a ship inside a POS if the POS has a shield password? That is will be ejected somehow?
How does one turn on or off the shield password. On that one screen (I believe) there is a place to enter a password for the POS and a tick box for allowing all corp members. In this context what does it mean to "turn the shield password off" does that mean to change the password to ""?
