a well set up pos in empire with unlimted fuel couldnt be killed though. As dreads etc could not enter the systeam and a well setup pos can alpha strike any bs. They are useful as it means u cant be camped Sig removed, image size 30,817 bytes (maximum is 24,000). Please contact [email protected] for more info (including a copy of your picture!) they sent the gank squad after my sig |

Any POS can be killed by a fleet of BS's, and if you know what you are doing, you can do it with no losses.
50 BS wil be able to kill a large military style POS.
All BS's must be tanked... and come to the POS at the same time. POS's use a round robin method when selecting targets and if u set up you BS correctly, it can survive being hit.

LOL what if I setup with tons of large arty and stuff like that... no BS can tank that--and if it gets a wrecking, bye bye Battleship.

you are talking at least 100BS to decrease any chances of loses, IMO. A well setup pos will have webs, scramblers, hardners and arts if its a large (on a mimmy I think).
If a BS handles 5 arts hitting it in succession then thats a miracle not tanking :/ --------------

I have been in fleets that have attacked and killed fully kitted military style large POS's with only Battleships.
Fully kitted, means 5+ large guns, hardners, med/small guns, scrambler and webber.
Keep your BS moving (circling something) and close to the POS, the large guns will miss and get bad hits. Kit your tank for the type of damage the tower does.
50 can do it, more is better.... as always :)

Ive heard about this not tried it so not 100% sure it works. When you have empire POS and get wardecced you sit the enemy corp to -5 standings and set your POS to shoot anything below -4 or something. When someone attacks you pick out a pilot and set your corp standing to him to -10. You then change the POS setting to shoot anything below -9 then back to -4 when the guy dies/warps.
Never tried it but ive heard someone talking about it.

What prevents that technique from working now? I heard about it just recently, and I thought it was still a legit way to focus your POS's defenses.

Edited by: Nee''kita Frist on 24/04/2006 22:32:34 It takes an hour for standings to come into effect and even then, you pos does not update standings towards people it has already spotted. Only those who will enter the system an hour after you have changed the standings and in regards to when your pos is under attack and being sieged. That obviously is far too late a time to organise standings for activities like that.
Edit:
Of course if you are smart, and keep an eye out in your first engagements of who is piloting a Dread you could set the whole corp to -9.9 and then set the Dread pilots to -10 so your pos will focus on them, provided they are flying the dread. (its a risk you have to take) --------------
