Like for example the second cloaking device cost like 30 Million+. Now why would anyone risk that much money for a ship module that cant be insured and why does it cost that much? Hell I can get a cheap Battleship for that price. "I am the Homo Superior." Mike Tyson |

Because the supply is low and demand is high.
Sometimes a cloaking device is more useful than a battleship.

That's the nice part about EVE, the items are based on REAL demand. The players create the market. Why is that item so expensive? Because the person selling it wants to sell it for that price :)
But, I would agree with you...that is expensive. I would just skip it and invest in something else or wait until the price changes. --

Actually, DS, I beg to differ there. The supply is quite high for T2 cloaking devices but a lot of players are refusing to pay that much any more. In may local area, a few people have them up for sale at 30 million. Their orders have been up for a month or so but they have only sold one or two in that time.

Neither, supply is just very low, as the vast majority of improved cloaks are used to make covert ops cloaks.

Hm, so this must mean that cloaking in this game is pretty much worthless? Otherwise supply wouldnt be so low. "I am the Homo Superior." Mike Tyson |

No... supply is constant, because there's a limited number of BPOs.
Cloaking is of course incredibly useful.

Jenny, can you please elaborate, I notice you do have a tendency to be very conservative with the amount of words you use in a post but it really gets confusing reading them.

It doesn't help that the Covert Cloak II is technically a tech level 2.5 item. It is the only item in the game that requires another tech 2 item as a component to build it. _____________________________________________________________________ Thar be Pirates

The problem is that I don't.
Boasting about what? That you have a cloaking device? Along with many thousands of others.

Look at my new ship. I can do this.
*cloaks*
Targets somebody and boom!
*cloaks again*
Think of it as showing off what they can do. Boasting rights are quite common in online gaming.

Largely because it's harder to see people rolling their eyes at you, giving you the finger, hearing them laugh at you or calling you an a$$hat in an online game.
Of course it's debatable as to whether or not that should let it stop you...

Hmmm... I can also think of another reason of why some items cost so insanely high.
To keep it out of reach from children.
