Selecting 'color stars by your assets' in the map sends the server off into an endless cycle.
Worse, after aborting it, you can never access the map again because for some silly reason, it attempts to load the specific info BEFORE actually displaying the map and allowing the opportunity to switch to another star-coloring criteria.
Does anyone happen to know the specific tag in the perfs.ini file that handles that?

Oh, it loads, it just takes forever. Showing gang members in space does the same thing (at least for me). As for a solution? Just let it run its course.
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

Really? I let it run for 10 minutes earlier.. still nothing. That's just insane. ;)
I know that's how it's always been (takes a while), but now it seems to take forever and a day, just after latest patch.
But still..
What I was getting at is that, once selected, if it wont load, and you abort the map, you'll never get your map again because it tries to load the info before displaying the map and giving options to change the star-color criteria.
I found "starcolorby=7" in perfs.ini, but changing that did not solve it.
In fact, I killed perfs.ini altogether and that didn't solve the problem either.
Weird stuff.

Edited by: Jorev on 18/09/2003 03:24:47 The trick I use to load map assets faster, is to start it and then esc after it loads station names, then choose assets from the neocron. The map loads as soon as the neocron assets list loads, which is faster. Have no idea why that is but it works for me.

Mh ... this did not work for me. Is there anybody out there who knows what I have to change to switch the map back from "show assets" to anything working? I'll not delete my prefs.ini - loosing the bookmarks is no option. But there must be a way to change some line in it ...
Or is the setting stored somewhere else?

I read deleting your prefs.ini is not gonna solve the not laoding map bug.
Besides it's no longer prefs.ini but a datfile now. So I guess we can no longer edit stuff in it to solve bugs CCP is too lazy to fix.
Oh and the boookmarks are not saved in your prefs but on the server. What IS saved in the prefs are the folders in which they are organized. --- soonÖ |

Do you know the name of the file where it is stored now? Maybe deleting it helps ...

Thats good - at least the database has been stable all the time (up to now) ...

What I did was just delete the cache and reset my settings again. Cleared the map problem, but it was a pain to have to resort to this. Agent Shield |

Yes... wiping you cache clears this problem. But Show Assets still doesn't work. I have over 300 stations listed in my asset window and I gave up waiting in map view for "Show Assets" to load... 40 minutes. Looks like this month, I can't play.
I like the game... but I won't pay more then one month to not be able to play... it needs to be fixed next patch.. or Elissa is going the auction route.

Hopefully they don't need another month to fix it. This problem is definitly pain in the ass ... even the major stuck in space problems are less important to me. I already deleted most of my former bookmarks to be able to play at all ...

Edited by: Elissa on 25/09/2003 03:34:19 It is not fixed, mine still never shows assets on the map. I think people are thinking that we are talking about the Assets box, that lists all the stations with assets. That is not it, we are talking about going into the map, selecting the "My Assets" option, and then waiting forever to never see it work.
See screenshot.

Is it really necessary to screw up this thread with that huge image showing something that is clearly recognized by most already? Your suppose to make images that big a link, not display them in the thread. I have over 50 systems with assets that I need to set waypoints to. And it's nearly impossible without the big map Assets feature.
And fix the autopilot so I can actually have fun playing this game again. I didn't think this could get worse but it has.. Now the autopilot will actually try to jump to the wrong system when the waypoint is wrong. Before autopilot would just sit there.

I tried to get a link up instead of the picture... but it didn't like it. Bit, I'll make the picture smaller... just for you

Woohoo! It works!
And... it is real fast too. Faster then before.

Not only is it fixed, but now you can have it optimize your waypoints to lessen thenumber of jumps.
Anotherwords, just go and place a waypoint on all your stops in any order, click the button and it'll calc out which is quickest route.
