I often run 2 versions of eve on one screen and computer. The second instance always freezes and locks-up. I'm thinking it is because they are both sharing the same folder. Is there any way to fix this, by copying folders and redirecting eve or what not.

amd atholn 3800+ dual core, 2 gig ram, radeon x800XL, windows xp, everything is of course current. I just deleted my cache folder and that has helped a bit, but I don't want to have to constantly do that.

1) Turn off sound on one or both of the clients
2) Turn off sun occlured by ships on both clients
3) are you running from two seperate folders or just the one? If just one, copy it and run each client from a seperate folder. RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!

there is no-need to do anything with that spec... I run 4 instances from a lower spec with no problems...
1) Try updating all drivers 2) Check for Ram crashes and memory dumps. 3) Service pack 2? 4) Direct x 9.0c?

Set both to window mode at a screen res that is smaller than your current screen res.
See if that helps. Also if you use a dual monitor like me, be sure to set the output to the correct port for one of the accounts to keep up frame-rates

I always run in windowed mode, only one monitor. I'm not sure how to repath the second eve if I run it from 2 seperate folders. And all my drivers are updated, direct X, sp2, all of it.

try copy your eve folder so that you only run 1 client on each install

well any ideas then....I don't know why it keeps dieing like this. I just lost 3 ships today to it....I didn't even know I was being shot at. It looked like I was mid warp still, I looked again about 10minutes later and decided that was a long warp to still be in, so I relogged, found myself in station in a brand new clone.

I have two accounts and for a long time both have been running just fine, each account on a seperate HD, each with a seperate screen and video card, the processor ois a Atlon 48800+, recently one of the accounts started locking up on me, I changed the affinity only one of the two, and the other account to the other affinity and that seemed to clear up the problem, there seems to be problems with dual cores, but not for all and not all the time

I used to run 2 instances at oncefrom one folder on duel monitors with no problems. I started acting goofy a few days ago, so I used the folder I made for the test server to launch the second account. I seems to run a hair faster, but nothing to write home about. I have not tested the frame rate differance yet though.
Rig is:
AMD 4400 dual core 2 gig ram bfg 7800 oc 2 250Gig sata HD (raid 0) Asus A8N-SLI premium (using onboard sound on both instances... I guess I am one of the lucky ones I never had to disable sound on one)
