Unless you're a neut in null, then I will start 'ratting" right away But in all reality, your average h-sec dweller is too safe or too alt to bother with longterm playingstyles.
Everyone's different. Usually I find everyone's willing to leave the young (under a year) explorers alone to have fun. If the characters involved are over a year old then it becomes a race as that can be quite fun itself.
tbh if you're over a year old the faction drop (if any) from a hisec combat site is usually just a pittance anyway. |

I used to not bother someone who had found a site when I was out exploring, even when I would explore in 0.0, but the loot spew thing made it quite boring to be honest. I liked killing the rats, with a chance of actually losing my ship if I wasn't careful. Removing the rats was a silly idea in my opinion. Haven't done any exploration since the week the loot spew came out. |

AIt must have been prior to 2007 when i started doing high sec anomalies. People would swoop in all the time and start shooting. The very 1st Shadow Serpentis I ever saw was a frig in a high sec anom and it's contents were stolen but a dude in a Drake. |

In the very very beginning when I first started hisec exploration, I left sites that were already "taken". It didn't last long though, since few people returned the courtesy. And really, if I spend the time to find and scan down a site, why should I leave just because someone is in there? That's just wasted time. So I started contesting sites like everyone else.
Then CCP locked my Tengu and Loki out of the sites, took away my DSPs, made probing easier, and promoted exploration... resulting in more explorers and the plummeting value of exploration goods. So I started being even more of a jerk to explorers that I come across... I hate you all!
There is no etiquette. If loot isn't in your cargo, its not yours yet. And even loot in cargo sometimes changes hands. |
