The phoenix (caldari dread) is the only ships i can think of now that looks like spaceships do in movies. most other ones in eve have weird shapes and stuff.
anyone think of any others? ------------------- uhh.. what does this button do? |

God and I love the way it looks. You could probably say the Badger, the cormorant(SP? Its the Caldari Destroyer), and there are most likely others, not many though. --- Player Flown Fighters? Robot Arm |

Has anyone ever watched Wing Commander? I love the designs for those ships. They're like naval ships..in space.
Side note, where can I find a screen shot of the dread?

Yea I thought those ships were pretty cool looking. My favorite looking ship ingame is either the Nyx or Pheonix. Most likely Pheonix (Though the Enyo looks pretty cool too)

Movie ship design is not especially fixed, usually there is a current trend on how ships should look but over time this changes.
As for what spaceships will in all probability look like... well that mainly depends on what the ship is for and if it is to be able to enter an atmosphere or not, for non atmo ships cube or sphere designs are the ones most probable to be used as they maximize the volume, another probable design would be the long angular ship.
Naturally if FTL drives need some form of external designs (like in startrek) this will set a mark on all ships.
Personally I find the Typhoon to be a very nice design and it very closely resembles the jumpiter mining ship in Red Dwarf.

Concord ships have a darn cool shape, if they only had nice textures and models as well. Imagine them firing a bullet from that huge barrel^^. (I know they actually have small guns fitted on their hull, just like all other ships which is not cool at all).

The Chimera also looks like a normal spaceship. Except that the fighter landing strip on the top would be hard to land on. You have what looks like the bridge in the direct take off path.
