One intersting thought came on my mind a long time ago.
What if we make a fleet boost by faction.
What if we have only gallentian ships (including serpentis ships) for example. This is quit rare case and would it be nice if our commandship bonuses will slightly increase about 5-10%? Some kind of moral boost, you know. Certainly it should work with profile bonuses (armor/skirmish if we are talking about gallente faction)
That could inspire people to make more roleplay. I suppose ^_^ |

So, a minmatar ship would no longer receive armor fleet bonuses from a EOS?
Or an celestis would no longer receive Info fleet bonuses from a Damnation?

I think this would be limiting, and a bad thing.
Things to remember:
T3's get bonuses to 3 Warfare links, not just two.
A BC doesn't get a bonus to using Warfare links, but can use any of them.
People, especially newer players, are often focused on single races. Denying them fleet bonuses because they are the wrong "race" would exclude otherwise viable options from participating in a fleet.
This discourages out of the box setups and even common setups because they don't prescribe to your baseless idea of what should be what: Shield Ishtars, Armor Scorpions, etc, etc, etc.
I cannot support this idea, despite how much I'd like Warfare links to be... revamped.

diversity tends to lend great strength to a crew. Minny/caldari faster movers to pin down, amarr and gallant when they mosey their armoured fat asses into range bring the pain for example.
Even boosted more this fleet is going all eggs in one basket. A very large gamble on the part of a FC. In very limited scenarios this may pan out well. Generally however its creating obvious flaws easily taken advantage of. This is not even a racial problem. I have had grand turkey shoots as fc landed our mixed LR fleet on an sr fleet just right to basically run up the km count fast and sleazy. Have also seen my lr fleet jumped by sr and felt the pain that can bring real quick.
Here we get a balance issue. How to have a fleet of pure blasterthrons (since op chose gallant I will roll with it) not be sitting ducks to MR/LR amarr and caldari....but not be so boosted they are wtf are you serious borderline op.

No, nobody flies with one race's ships exclusivley because thta then leaves giant, gaping holes in your fleet's capabilities. For example, if you're all gallente, you have no long range webs or painters. If you're all minmatarr, you have the webs and painters, but you have no long range points, no ECM, no neuts, no damps...
You'd gimp your fleet setup too badly to actually get this bonus, therefore no-one would actually attempt to get this bonus. |

No, he's saying if your fleet is all the same race or faction, to get extra bonuses.

No, he's saying if your fleet is all the same race or faction, to get extra bonuses.
Either the extra bonus would be too small to matter (and I wouldn't care), or it will stifle fleet diversity, which is something we want to promote IMO.
Fighting 50 Dominix's and Oni's is boring. Fighting 30 Domi's, 10 Geddo's, and few Scorps, and mixed logi is far more interesting.
