seems like since the patch the "your skillpoints will be lost upon switching skill" will actually be lost... I for one don¦t think that¦s such a bright idea since it makes timing skill training to your awaytimes much harder... the not-so-frequent players will get a serious handicap through this. |

Very bad change. (If true - I must confess it doesn't seem to have affected me yet.) But if right then now if I have a 5 hour skill to train I can't do so without losing potential training time as it's too short to fill work/sleep times and too long to fit in the evening? And what if I'm several days into training a Level 5 or high rank skill and then (purely hypothetically) they introduced a new must-have skill like anchoring? Bad, bad, bad.
*Doubly* bad since NOT DOCUMENTED!
That's my biggest gripe with this patch - bugs happen (though there do seem rather a lot), but implementing changes like this (or the secure cans) without documenting them is just downright sloppy.

I'd have to agree. In real life, if you stop learning a skill, you don't have to start from scratch again, you just pick up from where you left off. I generally would train skills over night by changing to those that take around 7 or 8 hrs rather being in work and a skill finishing an hour into an 8 hr shif. Wholly inefficent but now I'm no longer able to do that. Just one more fault of many with the new patch I'm afraid.

You're right Haga, it's the same. Keep all partial points on switch. This is just FUD.
I'm flipping between several skills right now, because I can't make up my mind (and because I just got implant from agent). All partial points are kept as I switch.

To the best of my knowledge - and I've dealt with a lot of skill petitions - skillpoints are not lost upon aborting a skill or switching to another one. I just tested this; they jump down to the original value for about half a second, then jump back again.
You know, what I'd really like to see when people reply to these kinds of threads is that they don't just jump on the bandwagon and go "Me too! CCP sucks!". If it's happened to you, fine, you've got a right to gripe and to petition us about it. If not, all you're doing is jumping to conclusions. Taking someone else's word that he had some problem with the game does not make your own argument valid.
For those of you who believe you've lost points, send in an "other" petition. You should know, though, that the client's approximation of skill completion - the "time remaining" - can sometimes go out of sync with the server. This means that your own computer will show you an incorrect time limit, while the training just ticks away at the normal, correct speed on our server. If you really want to ascertain whether you're losing skill training, look at the points, not at the time. And, of course, petition us if you're in any doubt.

GameMaster, this is all very true. But with the current events things are getting annoying.
