I was looking into the different turret type/size specialization skills and I noticed that if you wanted to have the large specialization you would also need the medium and small specialization to level 4. While I can understand the need for a base understanding of the smaller turrets (i.e. need M/S turret to level 4), I fail to see why if someone wanted to specialize in the large size of any particlar turret they would first specialize in the medium and small.
Doesn't that kind of defeat the puporse of specializing in the first place?

It sounds like the definition of specialization to me.

If I wanted to be a Hybrid Turret Specialist then yes I'd want to train all three specialization skills, but if I only wanted to be a Large Railgun(Hybrid) Specialist then training the other 2 wouldn't be required passed a basic understanding.

I know, but to make it fair missile users can train directly and exclusively for the one they want!
...wait a minute, that's not fair at all...

However the support skills for missiles total a fair few more SPs than the support skills for turrets do, so probably all balances in the end.

Missile Support skills & rank Guided Missile Precision - 5 Missile Bombardment - 2 Missile Projection - 4 Rapid Launch - 2 Target Navigation Prediction -2 Warhead Upgrades - 5 Total ranks of missile support skills - 20
Gunnery Support Skills & ranks Controlled Bursts - 2 Motion Prediction - 5 Rapid Firing - 2 Sharpshooter - 2 Surgical Strike - 4 Trajectory Analysis - 5 Total Ranks of gunnery Support skills - 20
Looks pretty even to me. If you max out Missile support skills and Gunnery support skills, you'll have exactly the same number of SP in each skill. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the oth |

I worked it out using my attributes before the new missile skills were implemented. It came out that maxing out your SP in a single gunnery chain + support skills would take like 20 days more than doing the same for all missile skills.

Except motion prediction is a rank 2 not a rank 5, which gives 17 ranks for gunnery support as opposed to 20 for missiles.

To be honest I hadn't done any comparisons between missiles and turrets.

Missiles are like shields, you can get a lot more out of them for a lot less skill points, even if in the end you *could* put more skill points in to them.
