Hi all I've tried reading faqs and doing searches but I just end up reading 10,000 old threads from 2003 about people complaining about ore thieves.
I've been trying to find the following info about secure canisters:
1) Can you use them without anchoring? Like just put them in space even though they aren't tied down? 2) I heard once that you can't anchor them in empire. Is this still true? If so what is the highest security sector you can anchor in. 3) When anchored nobody can steal the canister correct?

1. Yes, but they are scoopable, which means someone can run off with the ore AND the container 2. 0.7 or lower. Not in 0.8-1.0. 3. Correct. They can guess the password though (did that one once, crap loot :() ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - 0.0 Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

Make sure it's anchored (just need Anchor Skill 1) before trying to set the password. _______

Couple questions to add to Sorethens, dont want to start a new thread.
Can tractor beams be used on your own secure cans while they're anchored? And is there any benefit to taking the anchoring skill past 1?

1) Haven't tried, but I would doubt it.
2) Only if you intend to anchor your own station/outpost. So far, anyway. _______

Use the "look at" button. red lights = anchored, green lights = not anchored.

If there's no password on the container then anyone can just waltz up and take what they please.

It is indeed possible to not set a password, and leave it open to the public. I don't believe there is a way to visually check for that, though.
The red/green lights mentioned just indicate anchored state. _______
