Yes well, that's a side-effect of having a free, lightly moderated forum that consists of a relatively small group of people who mostly consider each other friends and hence doesn't have to be heavily suppressed.

There's absolutely nothing stopping you from doing it your way in EVE.

Same but not just through their fighting tecniques(though I do hate misiles), but also the ideals they impose on their own people.
Wait, WHAT? Caldari aren't about imposing their ideals on others, that's Amarrians and Gallente. Caldari just want to sell stuff to you.

RP is why I play EVE.. or eh.. one of the bigger reasons anyway.
The background is GREAT, sure the prime fiction isn't flawless but that is what we get with an over-worked content department that has to create text for l33t modules instead of focusing on storyline. I do wish to give some kudos to ISD/Aurora for at least trying now and putting a face on some sweet faction out there.
I only fly Caldari ships.. I'm a fighter so I will only mine if I'm ordered by a surperior.. (my mining osprey is named Punishment).. I won't really speak with minmatar dogs unless they wanna give me isk for somethign and can be a bit polite doing so.. Gallenteans.. well.. eh.. they got a few hot chicks and can throw a party, then you can rob them blind when they are high on crash.. [rant goes on]..
RP is something every player can choose to go with or just do whatever.. (and no, i don't think BOB is a RP alliance, they are here to add some fun chaos and now and then do some RP).. It is content much as anything else that we players create.. you either wanna do it or you don't. Not like you have to... same with that you don't have to mine if you don't want to..
But there is a big RP community and I must say that it is the most fun I've seen in any MMOG.. there is no "elite" that try to think themself better then others.. well.. besides from JF *j/k*

Just wondering where most people are at as far as RP in the game.
Unlike D&D, racial expectations of characters even in an RP perspective in this game are minimal. That's what corporation are about, they define your enemies even in the history. Take the Intaki for example. Many Intaki NPCs work for Caldari, especially in Intaki Syndicate space.

When I first started I wanted to be an intaki diplomat, and I took very high charisma. A few weeks in I found out how the stats work and realized that charisma sucks, the RP descriptions were BS, and that I had to reroll. Haven't payed attention to the RP stuff since.

No need to do that, and I know some minmatar character who were born normally and have a more or less "averange" background.
Okay Tsual has no averange background, but nothing with being enslaved in it.
Depends bit, though Amarrians owning slaves is not a stereotype that is the most normal thing for Amarrians, like in the real world going to church on sunday for christians or praying five times a day for moslems.
And this comment is not here to start a discussion about world religions but to give an ooc analogy - which the background section somewhat falls short imho.

My character is caldari but I fly all minmatar ships...
I did stay true to the pirate tattoo and gurrista background on my character though.

I can say that most Mins are friendly and help to other Mins with the exception of a few unmentionables. Gallente are also fairly friendly and darn cute. Caldari can go either way. Amarrians...well we just don't speak. That's been my experiences.
I chose my character cause it seemed like a good extension of my RL values and experiences. If I was to go for an alt it prolly be a Gallente.

Actaully, we do. The Gallente's have helped out the Minmatars on several occasions (check some of the Minmatar ship descriptions). I think that Minmatar and Gallente are defacto allies as for some reason the Caldari have been helping the Amarr slave traders (Mission: Human Cattle, Portal to War). All I know is that I have never run any kind of missions for the Gallente Fed, and I still have a +3.0 rating with them just by working for Minmatar Tribes 0.o

My charachter is Amarr, through and through... all of the Sp is in amarrian stuff pretty much. I cant use any other weapon type except lasers  (and missiles.. sort of) And dont regret it for a minute About half my Sp is in amarr gunnery  And really does make a difference lol

I picked Minmatar and Brutor over 2 years ago because of something in their description..I thought it would be cool to be the underdog and supressed-kinda race.
I have never truly rp'd, but i still to this day have only bothered with large t2 projectiles, i only fly minnie hacs and only have minnie bs 5, all those due to my character being Brutor. I feel the most at home in Heimatar/Metropolis etc.
I also occasionally still call people silly amarrian slaverscum
