My status is 5.0 atm, Im in a .9 system, how much status drop does it incur and will I still be cool in the .9 system? It can easily be upped again by just doing some missions against pirate factions. Or incursions. I don't have the exact math, but I'm sure someone else will post it, probably. :P

It's up above that lately, to about 400 or so. And to the OP, if he's just salvaging your wrecks, then you will have to suicide him. If he grabs any loot he will flag himself for you to fire upon. Depending on what you're flying, you may have more avenues to screw with a ninja looter. I know that turret or missile based mission battleships very often have little use for their drones, so dropping an MTU with a flight of salvage drones can get the wrecks and make it rather unprofitable for them to select your mission to invade. First of all you can read about the math regarding suicide ganking and the CONCORD response times relative to the sec status of the system over at Monks website (I suggest you read the other articles too, excellent read!). Obviously Ive never done it before Are you talking about ninja salvagers ie people salvaging your wrecks to get the broken salvage items used to make rigs or people actually stealing cargo from your NPC wrecks? I don't have much experience of this but I would have thought ninja salvagers would be far more common than people stealing cargo from your wrecks which entails 'suspect' status which allows you to pod them legally. If they steal your cargo it will either be an idiot who doesn't know they can be podded or more likely a trap for you to fall into. If you want to be sure to see the flashy yellow for suspect status in your overview you have to change your overview settings to have yellow flashy at the top of the list. 'Drag and drop' is the way to do it. Otherwise other settings can cover the yellow flashy if they are above them in the listing. If you were considering suicide ganking them there are many variables to take into consideration such as resistances. Ganking in a 0.9 system would be a complete no-no though due to the lessened CONCORD response times. You would need to attack them in a 0.5 or 0.6 system and would need to ship scan them first with a passive targeter so they don't know you are checking them. On balance I would say it is probably best for you take the loot loss rather than pursuing them. Best to relocate to another system for you missions than getting your pimped mission ship blown up.

The higher your sec status the more it drops (as you are moved a percentage of the way from your current sec to negative 10). Illegally aggressing a player capsule will drop you from +4.80 to about +2.70. It's a much, much bigger drop. You will incur transferrable killrights for either action. KRs are pretty nasty if the person owning them knows how to use them. 90% of people do not have a clue and you only lose a rookie ship to the KR, but I would assume a mission ninja is in the 10% that know what to do with them. As for pulling off a gank - use a ship fitted for alpha in 0.9.
