Jet Collins	Posted - 2006.04.26 17:10:00 - [1] I just want to know incase I decied I was to solo Bounty Hunt how many of you are out thier , I "might" be able to take on. After 2 years of training combate skills for Combate missions i think I "might" be ready for some PvP action.

As for your original question I solo pvp as often as I can fit a ship and keep my sec status high enough. Currently working on a alt that should be done with learning skills some time in May in witch case Ill be running her 100% solo pvp and the main to fund her through missions. I hate having to wait, but going red on the only money making toon I got with a very small corp... just doesnt make sence. If I have a bad spree of ship loss Ill be screwed. So on the weekends Im out and about in the belts in lonetrek and during the week grinding missions for sec status and isk till my lil alt is done

When you are in a fleet you are just taking orders, you don't need to know what to do, you just need to execute the orders you have been given. Thats why so many alliance blobbers think their PVPer's when they haven't a clue how combat or tactics work. For me soloing is a nice break not having to lead fleets etc., but its not nearly as fun as it used to be. Now everyone uses scouts at chokepoints and people fit so many stabs that it is very unusual to be able to scramble someone when you are solo. If CCP did something to nerf stabs it would make soloing a viable option once more. Sex0r > you're bounty turns me on.. you seem like the kind of amarrian to dominate me

I despise blobs, although theres nothing wrong with a well thought up gang of ships and setups, unfortunatly most other gangs are pure gank which is where solo pvp and EWAR comes in. A solo pvper may need to hav a 'gimic' to win fights, or at least give them the edge, a big tank or a big gank setup on your solo setup used to work, but ppl are wiser (copy those who dont suck) and fit EW and stabs - so the pirates hav to adapt. If you dont adapt you will die, dont blame the pirates for using what is nessary. I reccomend you fit a half decent tank and fit one type of EW (ECM OR damps OR tracking rupters), also you may need good dmg OR nossing abilty, as you WILL find ppl using all kinds of stuff and while theres no uber one fit kills all there are some fits that will see a few battles before being trapped or ganked - or trapped and ganked To answer the question, there are planty of solo pvpers (some pirates some just out for a fight), but you will need to hav more than just good skills as it takes many types of 'skills' and knowlage to pull off solo pvp - braindead morons tend cruise in gangs 24/7 some the fear of loss is so bad they are litterly never without support (the usual gank squad low sec gate gankers and petty pirates).

Everywhere I go is mostly 0.0 and alliance controlled. I can't count the number of insults I get from groups and groups of pilot asking for duels and fights knowing they have 20-40 others in system with them. It's all rather funny because I'm always a noob to them yet I don't fly with people holding my hand =) Quick Reminder for the soloist/ECT -Dueling- Dueling is not PvP. Yes you're fighting against another player vs player. Yet if someone magicaly calls you out in deep space to fight in a duel, it's almost always because A) They want to gang you. B) They know your ship but you don't know theres. C) They want to gang you. Dueling is not the same as real pvp. There is no "Stun Factor" in the fight. There is only tactics, experience, and just plain skill. Dueling is just another way for people to have it easy. Not to mention almost all duels are dishonored anyways. -Overpowering- Lets face it, if you're solo and flying around elite setups and ships trying to pick on stuff that's obviously a no brainer default win for you. Then noone will engage you in combat. Which is a must because people use Instas/SS's in space. If you can't pull them off that gate then there is no point to be out there. Only people who will engage you are people who you're not looking to fight. So if you can fly setups that look to be not the popular pvp choice and not so overpowering. Then you will get more engagements from people than you would of the popular flavor of the month. :Popular: Vexor, Thorax, Dommy, Rupture, Raven, Claw, Taranis, Crow, and ect Cruiser vs Frig, Battleship vs Cruiser, Battlecruiser vs Frig, ECT = Not happening :Not Popular: Stiletto, Most Tech1 Frigates, Covert Op Frigs, Some faction frigs/cruisers, and Stealth Bombers. It's like fishing you know? Bait it and wait...

Pilots flying around looking in local doing background checks and trying to work out what ships whos in and if they're in a gang all warping about trying to get the jump on the other..... thats how low sec can be. Once you find someone even if they do hav freinds near by they will want the kill to themselfs usually so only call in backup if their death is immannant. So if your winning finish it quick Well thats what i find sometimes, and it can be lots of fun All the good action is in 0.0, pfft just bossy alliences, low secs where its at... unless the gate campers are out

However, I would NEVER engage another BS 1 vs 1 if he appeared in local with the sole intent on fighting me. The reason is, anyone can setup to take down a gate camper solo or counter the ship i'm flying.... it's just not worth the risk. If you can't PvP after 2 years, you'll never be able to.

So in order to do some feasible "soloing" in 0.0: 1) Use a cheap agile ship (like ceptor) 2) Have an alt to scout ahead/behind. Even those trial accounts work well on this, till you decide you really need 2nd real account. -Lasse altsoloing a bit too often

So from the sounds of it soloign now adays has its ups and downs and for the most part you have to be lucky and/or have an out of the box setup. Currently I have a crap load of different minmatar ships at my disposal(well I hope not disposal but use) And when I dead out I just have to deside do I want to risk alot of isk or a little :). I appreicalte all the advise everyone has give. I do have one more question to add. If I am to bounty hunt my targets will most likly have neagative standing. If I'm at a gate is a syste .1-.4 at what point can I fire first on the Pirate and not have the sentures fire one me? Is thier a point or is it Automatic who ever fires first get shot at by the senturies? Just something I'm considering but probably would not work because most of you have instas anyway :).

Then everything evolved with the downfall of CA and I became accustomed to ravage the npcers of Curse solo or with my small group of trusted, likeminded fighters. After that I took up being the alliance type of guy, always leading and flying in gangs and fleets but I got tired of that due to a fleet's inability to [insert 1 of 468456 facts why leading alliance gangs sucks]. Specializing in killing npcers and miners, I sought to fly alone, despite people's wishes to have me in gangs and made a fine living off the loot of those unfortunate enough to meet me at the wrong place at the wrong time and had tons of fun; something that alliance gangs could rarely offer me. Call killing npcers and miners easy if you like, but those who know better understand exactly what I mean when I say that solo pvp isn't easy in any way. Especially not when it's 1 versus a big gang, which seems to be every coward's answer to superior fighters. --------------------------------------

You almost always have to pvp in a gang now.. /Waits for teh flame Gordan you did fine solo last night when ya took my Battlecruiser out :P I had the most jacked up setup in that... was using 4 Reactor Cores to get the Seige Launcher on the BC - armed with EMP Torpedo's, bet you were like wtf is this guy doing with a seige launcher on a BC. I think when I warped into the 0.4 you targeted me and I got a torpedo off before I warped, I have since dropped down to a cruiser, think only playing for 18 days, the Battlecruiser is way to much ship for someone under 1 month in the game.

Outlaws are easy to spot as they are always flashing red If someone is flashing red you can fire freely - there are other reasons why someone could be flashing red as well, e.g. can theft, recent aggro, war target(?) but you can fire on these as well. - - - - - Smoke me a kipper, skipper; I'll be back for breakfast

I nearly made it the whole way round eves 0.0 in a BS solo with no scout once and no stabs...was quite fun, the fun ended when i engaged a RAT geddon who was camping a gate solo only for him to warp of in like 5% structure ( lucky sod ), whereupon i was promptly jumped by 3 other RAT bs pilots. Most annoying "solo" wannabee pvpers in game at moment are those that engage in 1v1s only to warp off while scrambled because they have stabs fitted, they might of actually done better if they fitted somthing other than stabs.

And there's no limit to stab abusers out there. EvE is really set up against any kind of solo PvP. Even ignoring WCS, the 20km scram range stops all long range set ups when you solo.

I love being chased by groups of gank squads with BSs and HACs after me, i'm only in a frig size ship. I can name one encounter for instance. In G space i was in a rifter, saw an opportunity, Covetor barge mining crockite YOOHOO pop it. Get chased by 5 people including 2BS 1 HAC 1 destroyer 1 taranis. I outrun them for a bit and go to a dead end system with no BMs the destroyer and ranis come to local and call me a total noob going after miners and not fighting their gang head on. I laugh and challenge the Cormonant to a duel. I warp to planet 1 and fknBBQ*****his Cormonant and his pod. All he says is "wow..." and i didn't hear from their gang again not once.
