.. and turn it off.
Seriously, why did the developers think it was a good idea that drones would get bored in a long flight to a target and decide that they could just retarget whatever the hell they wanted? When I'm using Ogres on a BS, I have to tell them to engage target every couple minutes or they get bored and wander off.
I assume it's because they're trying to get into optimal and/or orbit the ship and it's taking too long.
Speaking of which - is it really a good thing that a drone is slower than a battleship?

Never happened to me.
Are you sure they didn't just destroy the original target?

i've never had that.
Only thing i'd want them to change is when you say "return to drone bay" they turn off their mwds forever, or sometimes stop at 1700m away so you have to go fetch them.
Basically means you can kiss your drones goodbye if it happens in pvp and you need to get out.

Yep drones need a bit of work. Tux posted in another thread that they were going to be doing some new programing for them. I just hope they program them with a little more brains and less sex drive.
Some of my favorite moments in game is when unleashing 5 T2 lights on a intercepter and watching 3 of them do thier job and the other two just holding hands and hump each other while following way behind the target.
Oh and how about when you decide its time to bugger off and recall your drones. They come racing back and stop and follow just outside of scoop range. You have the choice of turning around and approach to scoop them or if taking fire warp out and leave them behind.
Rant off mode. They have a lot of issues to sort out and I just hope it is sooner than later. No one can hear you scream in space, so just shut up and die already. |

That happens to me ALL THE TIME if I target something much over 40km and send the drones after. They get 3/4 the way there and choose another target and fly off after it. Very annoying during a busy fight to have to babysit them so much.

I think all drones are only a step away from being rogue drones.

I was doing a mission the other day, 5 or so groups of mixed size rats. So i start on the closest and kill the cruisers and BS, then it the 3 frigates turn i pound the first one to dust over a minute with cruise missiles and i thought id use the drones to help kill the other two - may save me missiles and time. What hapens AS SOON AS I PUT THEM IN SPACE!!!!! every other group in that stage of the mission opens up on my drones, as soon as they died, sure enough all the rats aggroed me
Stooooooopidddddd Drroooonnneeess!!!!
PPl say the domi is greater even than sliced bread for pve and pvp, but if they keep doing that im strating to think its all lies!

Why do you think there's so many rogue drone complexes and missions in EVE? The stupid ones that we have are the ones that are too dim to join their droney friends and have hot drone humping action in large pits filled with drone oil all day long.

Edited by: CptEagle on 26/04/2006 21:36:04 I use a Ishtar for lvl 4's and it happened to me too, a had putted the drones on the BS after a while its was in half armor a while later only 1 drone is still shooting it and the others just spread out for no reason. No, my ship did not wander outside drone range. This wansn't just a one timer, its happen quite often.

Anyone used repair drones, they seem to be the worse for returning to your ship by a mile.
Once you ask them to return and orbit (which I find usualy works better than return to drone bay) they just sit there not moving, return to drone bay, nothing just go dead, target another ship under max usable range and ask them to repair it off they go at light speed and start repairing, VERY annoying.
The best way I have found to get your drones back (obviously NO use whatsoever if in combat or anything) is to drop a can next to your ship and ask them to attack/repair it and they will come hammering back nice and fast.
