Hi I have created a web application to help people keep track of POS fuel and online status. After wondering what I could do to practice PHP which I had just learned, I decided to do this after I found myself running into offline corp POSes.
There may still be some bugs, thats why its still beta, but I believe I have them mostly all worked out. Please feel free to test it out and make any suggestions on anything that can be done to make it better, also bug reports are welcome.
POS Tracker Beta: http://72.134.229.65/postracker/index.php
Please use the in game browser to register, you will have to add http://72.134.229.65/ to your trusted sites. The entire website works in the in game browser, but it also works out of game in case you want to check your pos status while at work or whatever.
If you are part of a corporation that is interested in using this tool please let your CEO know and tell him/her to sign up first so that I can set his/her access. Then your CEO can set the rest of your corps' access through the webpages admin function. If you are just a single person interested please post here that you have signed up and you want access, so that I can update your access manually.
For CEOs: access lvl 1 allows the member to view POS info. access lvl 2 allows the member to edit POS and add POS. access lvl 3 is for CEOs which allows them to change access levels and delete POS.
I am still deciding whether there will be an isk fee for this tool when I am done with it, I am also possibly looking for hosting.
Enjoy. -------------------------------------------

Well first of all, I am not an alt(unlike you). But other then that, all I can do is give my word that the information is secure. Only people within your own corporation can see the information, and even then only if you give them access to do so.
If this is a concern to anyone, you may feel free to sign up anyway and test out the site by putting in fake-ish pos info. Or if you are still convinced that this is just some elaborate plan to get your corporations pos info, then dont bother.
As for your question about if the info is for sale, grow some balls and ask me again with your main, and I will be happy to answer. -------------------------------------------

I think this may be a far more popular system if you offered the source code up, so that people can host it themselves. Many people (myself included) wouldn't want to put potentially sensitive defensive POS fuel information on any website where everybody with backend access was known. Call it paranoia, especially in this espionage-filled game. ----------

Its a possibility, except its not even done yet. I need people to test it out. Also if I gave up the source code I would have to support it, even I had trouble getting it to work on a server with a different version of apache/PHP. Also I kind of want to get something for it, but hrmmm who knows. -------------------------------------------

Nice idea Randy. Can you add an email function with parameters? So, say I can set up to get email warnings once there are 12 horus left, and someone else would once there are 4 hours etc. ---------------------------------------------- All my posts are my own opinions and dont not represent any organization until stated otherwise. |

Thats exactly what I would want.
Oh and about the concerns voiced by other ppl: Why cant u allow registering uf fake username (instead of real ceo's charname), as well as fake corpname.
Then perhaps ppl wouldnt be able to just open the IGB and already be logged in, and having to enter username/pass. but at least the information would be useless to the server host - cause he wouldnt know to which corp it really belongs. ---------------------------------------------- All my posts are my own opinions and dont not represent any organization until stated otherwise. |

Hrmm that might be a workaround for the paranoid. I have designed it to be a corp-wide tool, since fuelling of pos is usually a group effort. thus the poses are entered into the database with the corp name as one of the bits of info and when building the tables to show the pos statuses it only shows the pos of the corp of the user. people would have to type in the same corp names for thier fake corp. -------------------------------------------

I have seen these offers in each and every online game and in real life. Thank you for the pleasant conversation.
Trusting a site in the IGB allows them to call your current location from the server. Adding POS (consumption) and char info to a possible oponent is very sensible handling of vital data, ain't it?
Hosting the boards of opposing guilds/clans/corps is a nice source of information too. Hosting their TS server too is even better. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

thanks for debasing my honest and sincere attempt to create a useful tool for people who play eve. go away now troll.
ps. you seem to have an aweful lot of links in your bio, perhaps you think you are some kind of helpful person. honestly in my experience you are not. or more likely you are one of those people who you are trying to make people believe that I am.
In any case, go away, you and your attitude are not wanted in my thread. -------------------------------------------

Debase? I pointed at a very useful and to the user not obvious twist in giving trust from the ingame browser.
Honest and sincere? Dunno. I don't care. I dont' trust many people on the net. Having worked for an insurance company and a bankhouse and playing online games for some 15 years I have seen a fair share of fantastic support tools with a second layer of functions. I am one of those people telling others not to open attachments in emails they didn't request, and to check those they requested twice and not to open emails from people they don't know.
Useful? If it does exactly what you state it does then it is incredibly useful. I wrote a timer program for myself and I know what amount of work and time is put behind it. It might end linked in my bio if people report it to be useful, stabile and precise for a while. *shrugs* See you in the help channel
I still hope ccp adds the fuel consumption info and an optional out-of-game messaging feature with manual trigger levels to the POS interface. I wish they're gonna add that to the mobile phone 'client'. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

how many would be interested in me releasing the source code for this tool? keep in mind that i did not intend to release it when i was making it so you could have a hard time debugging or changing or even reading it. -------------------------------------------

I would be interested in seeing the source. You could toss it up on sourceforge and allow others to help fix bugs and add features. I'm not sure if you want to go that far with it, but it's an idea.
With regards to being paranoid, I wouldn't use a site like this that required it to be trusted. After all, all you need is to keep track of what systems (passed to trusted sites) the person is in when they update the information. I bet a majority of the time, a person will update their information while at the POS.

Ah well the only function of the site that requires trusted to be set to yes is the registration. All other functions dont require that the site be trusted. Also the entire site works in any out of game browser such as IE (actually might have errors in others as I have not tested it in firefox or opera or whatever), I just made sure that it all works in the in game browser because I figure people would like to update pos info without having to tab back and forth. So technically you can set the site to trusted to register, and then un-trust it and continue to use it normally with no problems. Cant believe that I didnt think of this before or maybe i did and just forgot :P.
I hope that removes some of the issues with paranoia! -------------------------------------------
