No, really I ask you. Why are those idiots fighting on the planet use damn rail guns and such? It makes absolutely no sense to use weapons with very high velocity for the air drag is so huge, that most of the energy put in the shot gets lost on it's way. And it's heating up and giving the thermo sensors something to pinpoint your position.
In my humble opinion the troopers would be way better working with conventional weaponry, meaning four to nine millimeter projectiles fired by conventional caseless cartridges, twelve millimeter for antimatter. I have seen what those weapons can do and it's really enough to ruin the day of the average human hit by it. Those weapons are easy to handle, cheap to produce, lightweight, really.

Pilot Nauplius,
As a businesswoman, I don't see you as an Amarrian or a Sabik. I see you as a combat pilot and a potential customer.
However, when you going saying things like...
Quote:This, then, is the meaning of the Scripture: God has given the Minmatar Republic over to destruction and bloodletting. And God has placed the Mark of Cay-nee upon the Minmatar Republic, and the Mark of Cay-nee is tribal tattoos.
...we may have a problem. So let's make sure we understand each other;
Firstly, our clan and caravan are a rarity amongst the Thukker to continue the practice of tattooing. Secondly, there is some dispute over whether the Wildlands are considered part of the Republic (they are most certainly NOT, but Republicans have their own silly ideas).
This puts us in a grey area in your designs - we're tattooed, but not part of the Republic. I would imagine the Matari bloc within the Federation maybe wondering the same thing...
So what is it, Pilot Nauplius - are you going after the Minmatar Republic exclusively, or any tattooed Minmatar?
Your response will decide whether Katanga Caravan plies you with Boosters or Barrage.

God is not a lawyer, and sometimes He is not as precise in His Revelations as we humble lesser beings might hope for.
But when last comes to last, there are those who are Chosen, and those who are Damned, whether in this life (as God has already given the Minmatar Republic over to destruction and we Chosen are to be Demons to them, the Wicked already in Hell) or the next (where God shall deal with the Gallente and the Jove and all who abide under His terrible wrath).
You are not elect by Amarrian birth, nor are you elect by faith (as is spoken of the Apocryphon) as are some Minmatar like Anyanka Funk; you do not drink the blood and sacrifice to the red God. Therefore, the wrath of God abides upon you.
And so, for the sake of my immortal soul, I choose the Barrage. But for the sake of your immortal soul, consider your treacherous state: the Pit of Abaddon gapes for you; there is nothing in your mortal strength that keeps it a second from swallowing you up, only the mysterious common grace of a righteous and holy God, who has given you this short time to accept the faith and given you a Prophet (me), who preaches to you the true words of God.
Flee from the torment of Abaddon; find succor in the embrace of the red God. Amen. Amarr Victor. |

You are not True Amarr, and so you are not Chosen. You are Khanid, and in your embrace of the Sani Sabik heresy have cast aside God's Mercy and thus Damned yourself in His sight. At least the infidels outside the Empire have only turned from God once. |

Lord Draconis, unstable psychopaths constitute quite a cross-section of my client-base. The ability to reason, a good price and a low-cut vest-top usually works wonders on them. But Pilot Nauplius is addicted to another drug, one which I can't sell to him. A lost customer, nothing more.
And of course I consume my own supply! But whether I have had "too much" isn't for you to judge, m'Lord!

What's the point in using fucking railguns? First, drag is a constant. Higher velocity rounds suffer as much as lower velocity rounds, meaning that a conventional round will underperform. It doesn't magically ignore air density via lower muzzle velocity. Second, ceaseless rounds are VERY poor in any but a dry environment, and prone to cook off. Finally, most railguns (or coilguns) are actually mechanically simple, moral than a standard firearm, and very robust. Basically, they just flat out outperform them in most circumstances. |

What's the point in using fucking railguns? First, drag is a constant. Higher velocity rounds suffer as much as lower velocity rounds, meaning that a conventional round will underperform due to lacking velocity by comparison to start with. In other words, the faster round still carries more kinetic energy, and carries it farther. Conventional rounds don't magically ignore air density via lower muzzle velocity. Second, ceaseless rounds are VERY poor in any but a dry environment, and prone to cook off. Finally, most railguns (or coilguns) are actually mechanically simple, moreso than a standard firearm, and very robust. Basically, they just flat out outperform them in most circumstances short of an EMP strike. Even then, they're not guaranteed to be burnt out. As for that assertion about thermal sensors... Conventional weapons actually have a greater thermal signature when firing, due to the propellant detonation. Sure, you can suppress them, but that's nowhere near as effective as people seem to think. Silencers are moot in straight up combat, costing you both range and power, since you need cold loaded rounds for it to work effectively. So, in all reality, while they have their uses, and I personally use a few Matari made weapons, any "superiority" to magnetic accelerator weapons is pretty much wishful thinking in a straight up lead slinging contest at any but the shortest of ranges. Drag is not constant for an unpowered projectile. |

You do realize that the Empire's "reclaiming" includes your beloved State as well, right? Your current military and trade agreements won't save you from enslavement and assimilation. Amarrian scripture mandates that they go forth and conquer everyone in their deity's name not, everyone except their trading partners and military allies in the State.
Unless you've suddenly converted to their religion your scrawny butt is on the list of "heathens" they intend to enslave and "bring back into God's light" as well. Idiot. When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around. |

Drag is not constant for an unpowered projectile. Additionally, ultra high speed projectiles in any significant atmosphere are subject to increased drag in the form of "wave drag". Substitute 'air density'. That was bad wording on my part, so my apologies.
But yes, I know about wave drag. It still wont reduce the effectiveness of a kilometer per second railgun round below that of a conventional projectile fired from similarly sized weapons except at extreme ranges. And the railgun will still reach farther before becoming ineffective. Your average 'assault rifle', has an effective range of between 200 to 400 meters, depending on the load and length of the barrel. The 30 year out of date Kaalakiota Mark 25 is lethal to 640 meters.
In some ways, it becomes moot in an actual engagement, though, to be fair. Most firefights take place at less than 100 meters these days. Many within 10. At those ranges, deadly is deadly, gauss or legacy chemical. Given the mechanical simplicity and armor defeating potential of a railgun, I'll still take one over a classic firearm under those conditions. And on the off chance that I need to return fire at over half a kilometer, It's nice knowing that I've got the edge in accuracy over longer distances. |

As it is, I am aware of no such agreement. They have agreed to TRADE with us, nothing more.
