1. What if they would add a function to the game where you can set a certain percentage of your structure for instance 50% and once that mark is reached you would automatically eject from the ship in your pod (for the attacker there should be an option to automatically cease fire when a ship is not piloted anymore). Since your ship is right next to you this would have to give you a 4 seconds coverage of being targetted at all in your pod or some other advantage.
Why ? There should be a certain chance for pirates (i'm none of them) to capture ships by scaring the pilot just out of it, would add alot of Fun to the game, still the pilot can decide wether he stays in the ship till it Blows up or decide to sacrifice all he has and just eject safely with a certain bonus so he has better chances to escape (for instance even escaping a warp bubble, whatever). I came up with that idea because i just love thrilling situations like this... you keep asking yourself after "would i have survived if i emergency exited before ?" or on the other hand "damn, i should have sacrificed my loot to get out, damn"...
2. Implement a ransom option into the game mechanics. Pirates that ask for ransom can do that through a CSPA request which pops up in the attacked ship showing a certain amount of ISK, if he accepts he gains 5 minutes protection to the player that asked for the ransom thus paying the ISK directly. the current problem is that certain pirates do not even ask for ransom because they think they will be tricked by their victims. That even hits those hard that would be glad to pay ransom and not be destroyed even if their cargo is not worth the ransom (sometimes you just don't want to have to travel 20 jumps again ;) ) -----------------------

If ship reaches 50% structure, auto-eject and warp to safespot 1m km from ship. Then yeah, people would use it.
I reckon you'd have to make it something like a high-slot module, and also include a skill to use.
Though this would be an auto-eject, no way to override it. So you always insta-eject/warp, would help ransoming.
I like it. (Though wrong forum)

I currently do this if im carrying loot or something through 0.0
1 shuttle in the hold... if I get stuck in my indie, I jettison the shuttle and a piece of cargo.
Board shuttle and run... grab the cargo if I have enough time and it'll fit :)
Beats flying 15km at pod speed :D ----- If you kill all the wolves, your gonna end up with a crapload of bunnies, and by bunnies I mean stupid people Eve & Linux Woot! |

Lol, you're just having a good fight youre almost winning the enemy has got 1% structure left then you suddenly get ejected. The other guy calls his corpmate to pick up you're ship. .. Owned.

Exactly, it raises the tactic of fitting a module to save your implants (well, save them instantly, you still need to warp back to somewhere safe once in pod), versus loosing a perfectly good ship (albeit damaged) if someone managed to get you below 50% structure.
Thinking more, you would probably need to adjust this to 50%, with named/T2 offering lower percentages.
Though equally, you have to give the people shooting the ship, an opportunity to save the ship and take cargo/stuff.

Just right click your ship and hit eject, no reason they should be able to claim your ship, besides you lose the insurance if they do so wheres the gain for you, its easy to keep your pod safe if you aren't a complete fool. :)
