If I don't do anything for some time (around 1 minute?) I get disconnected. This started more than a month and a half ago, 8th of March if I remember correctly. Many other people had the same problem. It dissapeared after some time, and things went smoothly. Now it's back. The last week I have been having this problem and it makes it almost impossible to play. I even get disconnected during long jumps in the freighter.
So my questions are: - are there still other people with the same problem? - are the devs aware of it? - is it server-related or is the network in-between at fault? - is anything being done to fix it?
The strange thing is that if I do things on the client that involve the server - even if only running an active module - I will not get disconnected. It's only when I do not do anything that involves the server (writing a mail will drop me).
I have been running pingplotter and there seems to be a huge loss of packets in the last three steps of the route:
everything ok: 195.50.113.50 ------ 80% loss: 157.157.139.253 ccp-Earth001.simnet.is 80% loss: 157.157.139.10 ------
Hope this issue gets solved because the game is hardly playable at the moment.

Been having this problem ever since the Blood patch. I havent seen ANY improvement on my end. Still havent recieved a response to my bug report either, and that was a month and a half ago. I've found just doble-clicking in a different direction while flying, just enough to make your ship alter course, every oh 30-50 secs or so, seems to keep me connected. That why a lot of combat players wont notice the problem, they are always interacting.

Same here. I play with two characters, which means that one of them might stay inactive for a time.

There seems to be multiple threads about this. Since it doesn't happen to everyone, would guess:
a) At some point, CCP optimized the client code in some manner that it avoids all unnecessary traffic with the server -> there won't be periodic traffic with keep-alive effect
b) Somewhere along your connection (your own NATting router or ADSL modem, or your ISP's port NATter) will close TCP connection if there is no traffic for a while
Simple workaround: join to some high traffic channel, and turn 'blink' option off -> your client gets periodic traffic without you having to see it

I'm NATted through a sleazy cheap (and BAD) router, and i'm able to idle for the whole night on a station with no problems.

I have had continual random disconnects over the past 2 days. Had no significant problems before that.

i have had a similar problem since july last year. its fine when i'm doing anything, but as soon as i leave it alown for more then a couple of min's it will drop my connection.
it is worst when playing at peek times (ie 20000 players or more online) however when this drops i usually get disconected less.
mining or going anywhere on autopiolt is impossable

There is a thread in Known Issues and Workarounds on this issue fellas. Please go add your problems into it - that way CCP may actually acknowledge a problem.

No problems here, playing from Ontario, Canada.
I can get a tracert to 195.50.113.50 but the others listed still fail when trying to reach em.
And by no problems I mean I've been connected for about 12 hours today with one session going for at least 6 hours straight. ----------------------------------------------- Hard work MAY pay off later, but procrastination always pays off now! |
