Thanks to a letter of my collegue, I think I should point some T2 BPO fundamentals.
1) T2 BPOs are few - CCP does not produce them anymore, so they are scarce and their price will rise while they exist.
2) ISK is constantly inflating (just for the last year it lost almost 40% in PLEX for example), prices for T2 BPO do not drop, do not stagnate, they do rise like PLEX does.
3) you can easy sell your T2 BPO - quick and cheaper or in a few weeks for full price - they are absolutely liquid.
4) if you like you can use your T2 BPO to receive additional dividents manufacturing the products they are designed for.
All above makes your T2 BPO a perfect investment asset to save and multiply your money.
A single minus - T2 BPO costs a lot (a minus when you buy of course, but if you hold one, sure it only enchants you:)

1. until you finish your invention process you have no blueprint at all
2. when you succeed in your multiple tries you receive a copy with limited runs
3. if you have a BPO you can research it and get perfect or near perfect ME (wastage close to 0), if you've got an invented BPC, it has fixed material efficiency resulting 20% wastage as optimum
so, you are right, inventing a copy is cheaper than to buy a BPO.
but in the first case you have nothing unless you finish your invention, the second case is about holding a valuable asset constantly rising in price |
