I've just had to give up for the evening. 10 minutes to undock from a station. nodes dropping every 30 minutes, I can't even get a response on a right click form someones name.
Cca't log in now on either account - one account just get as far as rendering a picture - then no UI bar radar. Basically the server is completely ducking dying.
One of the things it makes me think of is when AO had to give up the idea of having "one world" as it just couldn't sustain more than 3000 people reliably. EQ had to split ppl into to lots of servers with, well, les than 3000 ppl on them. It seems to be fairly standard. One of the things I noticed very quicly about Eve was it's low bandwidth.
It seems they just cannot keep a stable server at >4k. Every night when the total hits whatever the routers magic death number is, it all just turns into a stinking mshy pile of doo-doo.
Anyway - I can't log in properly on either account, neither can my bro, or other ppl in different parts of the world.
In short - it's totally ******.

I don't think it's the servers, a couple of months ago when we had 6300 on there was no lag, no node drops AFAIK.
So I think it's the server program rather than the server hardware/internet connection.
Anyway it's fine here in Lonetrek... We really need real load balancing :(

Well. Agree with most of it...
Its a pitty since ccp will (and in fact do) loose players. I've already lost a few corpmates due to events and bugs like this. ----------------------------

And i agree that new palyers can be chased by such events but if you played more then 2 weeks ,I dont understand your anger:we know that problems happen in Eve but are usually fixed soon and overall the game is most of time playable.
If there is a patch well,I expect problems. It shouldnt be like this?Of course .But i like Eve and the few hours problems dont bother me so much.I think CCP is overall doing good work

Completely unplayable.
I had multiple issues since the big patch, and still after the small one.
I already pruged the entire cache. Today I face around 6 node drops already, and numerous CTDs (they now give a C++ run time error Virtual call or something).
Right now Im in a bestower that can't target anything (the target locking sound and brackets kick in but no lock is aquired). No medslots, nothing works. Yes, I relogged already.
Oh, must not forget: after purging my cache, one of my alts got his face completely "redesigned", so now he is like a madman...
Oh my. _______________________________________________

Well I was ok after re-installing totally (before I did that I was getting multiple CTDs)
Now tonight I get blackholed... wait.. wait.. finally give up and go watch a film...
Came back and I had been moved YAY!
I then do 1 jump... and Im blackholed again!
This is pretty shoddy work I must say and I used to program for a living. If I put production work out like this I would have been sacked! We are paying for the game that gets more unstable with every patch it seems. -------------------------------------------

Wtf, I'm in Arvasaras only a couple of jumps away from kamokor, no lag at all. Doesn't even take more time than normal to undock or jump.
Seriously wtf is this?
Well well. At least I'm fine, that's the only thing that's important

Perhaps Red Buttons explaination of server architecture can provide a bit of insight. I think what they call the SOL servers are not balencing the load properly. Some systems and services have adequate resources and work fine and others are buggy and lagged. Apparently for the SOL servers to resort the work load everyone has to be out of the system or service. Thus very busy areas that get ****ed up get more ****ed up and it can't shunt the work load around or restart the service on another SOL server. Please forgive me I am no computer expert in any way, but mabey there is some accuracy drawn from my very limited understanding.

I suspect the same Ends .I have rarely problems with Eve as i stick to lowly populated areas and my corp is not big..

I agree with Tentimes opinion that it's linked to number of users, and also Superhighway hubs. It's always the key hub systems that fall over about this time - Amarr, Yulai, Luminaire - the ones you have to go through to get anywhere. Before they put in the Superhighway there weren't as many severe stuck systems, these ones are always biting the dust now.
Remove or shutdown the superhighway, stupid idea in the firstplace IMO

Edited by: Ange Noire on 18/09/2003 23:06:13 What can we do, but wait and hope that this issues will be fixed up asap.
I love Eve, it's an awesome game with major technicals problems, i played a lot a MMO, and most of them at their begining, i don't remenber any of them was reliable, stable and bug free.
Unless this issues lasting, i can deal with it.

Yup... dunno what happened lately, but it used to sustain 6k player. Not with ease mind you, things got really laggy then.

I really do hate to winge about it, but, yes it's unplayable in certain bits of busy Empire space at the moment.

What I find interesting is how on a day when EVE is so unplayable for many (me included) others were out there earning implants that sold for up to 100 million on the market. Those people were even heard to have been getting implants on average of once every 5 missions. Luck of the draw I guess. ----------------------------------------- Sig rented by Drethen Nerevitas. |

Here's a theory. They lease the server hardware. They started off with more than they have now because they expected 10k simul users eventually. They leveled off at about a max of 5k simul users and so they cut back on the hardware. Now the IT guys are in a battle with accounting trying to balance ROI with player frustration. ----------------------------------------- Sig rented by Drethen Nerevitas. |

Something new in the patch is undoubtedly putting undue stress on the servers (memory leak, bad sort routine, IP wait glitch, who knows?)
It'll likely be sorted in a few days when the devs get enough profiling data to know where to look for the problem ...
... I'm not worried (yet)
