Working on my industry and one thing that would be nice is to be able to better track your return on investment for buying a BPO, i.e. when have you recovered your costs of the BPO and what your returns to scale are for production. Currently, you have to keep track of this manually on pen and paper.
Suggestion: Add a descriptor to each BPO that states how many copies have been made, this value can then be used as a rough approximation of how many items have been produced from the BPO (assuming you do your production from copies and that you haven't given away BPC's to someone).
Adding this as a DB item associated with your BPO would allow API queries of this information for integration into Eve-related apps and spreadsheets.
It would also be possible to track the number of copies from the BPO and how many times the BPO itself was used for manufacturing, but two DB items is probably too much to ask. |

Or......you could keep track of it yourself. It really isn't that hard to dump a number into a spreadsheet every time you produce from a copy you made or sold a copy you made. In the end you shouldn't actually care about the number of copys made, but how much money the blue print has made you. Which could be a lot per copy, or it could be negative per copy depending on the BPO.
Just track profits from producing that item and compare to cost of getting the BPO and researching it. This is normal EVE math that everyone does...Also F&I is --------> |

Believe me, I understand that. I had to rework all my moon mining and manufacturing spreadsheets when I came back after a long break. But it "being harder" to do it that way isn't going to be a good reason for extra feature implementation. I suggest taking the time (a couple hours) to just make up spreadsheets for this and go from there. |

This would be literally pointless.

And don't run inventions, and don't sell BPCs, and make all BPCs with the same number of copies. Too many assumptions to make such a stored value of any real use.

Just build a little tool to play with the API. With that, you can read when a bunch of Copies is ready. Every time a copy is ready, increase a counter.
Better: Increase a counter when you read via API that your production job is ready. Wait a little time: build nice statistics about your S&I work.
If done right, it will run as long as CCP doesn't touch die API. One time work.
No need to do this in EVE. And no need to kill trees. |
