I put what I thought would be minor changes that would make me , but wouldn't change game balance.
In order of most to least important:
A load all button. would be omg time and frustration saver. Limit the load all to all weapons that use the same charges. That way you wont have issues with mixed weapon systems.
A button that freezes the overview/stops the overview from refreshing while it is held down. Would prevent accidental/wrong target locks. Also very important.
Under standings when you click relationship, have it also display corp standings to that person and alliance standings to that person.
an option to warp at LESS THAN max warp speed. Make a minium warp speed of something like 1AU/s. Would be pretty retarded to let someone warp at .1m/s so they could /laugh and /spy on everyone at the gate/whatever because no one could shoot them.
A way to store multiple custom keep ranges and orbit at distances. Only 1 would work when you clicked the button, BUT when you right-clicked your custom distances would show up in there, in the proper order.
The option to bind key presses to things like keep default range, orbit at default distance, etc.
A way to set autopilot to use bms/instas. Basically waypoint bms, not the systems that have the bms. I don't know how feasible this is, this isn't really that important, but it would be nice to have.

Tossing in instas/bm's with autoplit would be a bad idea. You could get a good set of instas, plan out your route, and hit autopilot and walk away from your pc for 3 hours without even the slightest bit of worry for your ship.
Personally, I think the biggest UI change that needs to be made is to be able to move around your ship HUD. Why are we forced to concentrate on the lower middle and upper right at the same time? it would be much nicer if you could say, move your main HUD up near the overview, or the targeted item box down near the hud.

Why is that bad? I mean you can already macro that... And there is no less danger from autopiloting an insta route then their is from doing it manually. Perhaps more because you cant pause and scan for warp bubbles. Anways if you are doing this in high sec, no risk regardless unless at war. In lowsec, you still have to worry about snipers and gatecampers. In 0.0, you have a lot of things to worry about and it will probably get you killed.

Um, high sec = possible suicide gankers, low sec = you're using instas... there's no time to snipe you.
The whole reason that there's danger in traveling without instas is that there's time for people to attack you, but you're proposing combining instas and autopilot, which completely negates that danger.

What? You start out as cloaked after you exit a gate, so the safety advantage from using instas manually verse using instas on autopilot goes to manual because you can adapt to changing situations.
And there is plenty of time to get sniped when using instas in lowsec (coming out of the gate, not entering it). I've gotten popped in a shuttle by a sniper a few times, when I had instas.
Autopilot+instas != negate danger
Bottom line is, it would make travel more convienent, it would not remove any danger that is already there.

Yes it would.
If you want to use BMs, it has to be done manually, that's the tradeoff and it's just not going to change. ________________________________________________

"Yes it would" - and then just a recap of the current status and an unfounded claim. Not much argumentation. Care to expand on it?
Yes it would make it more easy - but for the insta owning pilot, not much of a danger difference. I'm fully for a change like proposed - if they make sure that tools to catch and interrupt targets are made available. And with interdictors and bubbles we are more or less getting there. Just gotta make bubbles or an equivalent work against (war) targets in empire space, and we would be really close.
Add to that that it would eliminate/substitute bookmarks in the multimillions = less server load, and the idea is def. not all bad.

Edited by: Senivyn on 03/05/2006 20:03:55 There have been a number of times when I wished that you could set multiple waypoints in a single system. Then you could engage your autopilot and it would automatically warp between the points. This would allow you to attend to other things for brief periods of time(i.e. bio breaks, phone calls, strafing runs on the G/F or fridge)without having to log out in space.
I can also see the other side to the argument, that some people would try to use this as a way to be immune to attack in low sec space. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this would be possible because eventually your cap would be drained to the point that you would be unable to make the jump to the next waypoint.
This would disengage your autopilot and you would be left in space somewhere, vulnerable to being scanned and such. You would have to wait until your cap had recharged a sufficient amount to let you complete your jump, then you would have to manually re-engage your autopilot to continue your circuit.
I guess a dwell time could be built into the system as well, so you wouldn't automatically go to warp again after completing a jump. This would someone who had managed to bust one of your safespots the opportunity to ambush you.
Anyone think this would be a value-added feature?

I was in the process of editing my post to account for this when you beat me to it.

Very good idea even though there are ways around it, this would just be helpful.

Yes please! Having to change all my values when I change ship, weapon or ammo makes the quick orbit button just pointless.

For the love of God yes. After playing WoW, I can't stand not being able to move the ui around to my preference. Especially when you play at the smaller resolutions like me, and could organize things to make better use of the space.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 'Tag' target option being extended to show an corresponding number/letter overlaid onto the targeted ship at the top of the screen.

About the warping at a slower speed:
That is incredibly unfair. Why? I'm assuming you're trying to kill people and break people's safespots. If you're in a ship that warps at 6AU/sec then I'm pretty sure you're flying all over the place trying to drop a bookmark in space when you see them pop up on your overview for that brief split-second.
That's weak. There is no reason for you to warp slower that your max speed.
Unless you'd like to enlighten me on why you'd like to warp slower.... _________ www.siigarikitawa.com

this could be done with a simple feature found in most fantasy MMOs called Assist.
id like to see a totally customizable XML driven UI like Everquest and WoW have that allow the players to make their own UIs.

Modded UI's would allow people so much. Its like the scanner. ****ing useless if you cant use it, but once you've unlocked that power, so to speak, its priceless.

Reverse psychology when you are being chased. They run off ahead thinking you're going to head for the gate at top speed. After they've shot through, you amble up to the gate at 1 au and disappear off in another direction and out through another gate. By then, they are probably searching for your safespot. Anything is worth a try when you're outnumbered and trying to escape.
