Hey All
this is my post and my first day in EVE I found it fun and cool at the start, but now it seems like I have to reconsider buy it, as these lag spikes or what ever it is that does this Freeze kinda thing. I was jumping from a system to another and I froze. Now they rebooted, I log on, have alot of lag, but thinking it is fixed I put Autopilot on again. As soon as I get to the next gate on my road, I get the same damn problem.
Anyone else know anything about this that can put some light into this?
(Btw if this a common problem then I won't buy the game)

Edited by: Brydock on 01/05/2006 22:38:48 Before blaming the game take a look at your system. While indeed there have been problems this week I have found that many problems are as a result of client computer issues. This game loves RAM and LOTS of it. If you don't have enough ram and your paging file needs to be expanded on the fly XP will basically grind to a halt.
There are many things that you can do to improve the performance of your system. Way too many to note here but some basics would be to shut down as many extra programs as you can, defrag the drive and swap file if you know how, run at least two ad-ware removal tools as no single product gets them all and look at how much ram you have in your system. If you have 256mb look at kicking it up to a gig.
I'm sure though that CCP will get the server problem figured out.

Your system is fine, there are a lot of problems today. This is however a very, very rare occurance. Everything will be back to normal within 24 hours or so.

well, its up to you dude......if you have experience with MMOs, you know that this sometimes happens. all i can tell you is that in the year that i have played, it rarely happens and i have no wish to play any other game currently offered.

I too am new to Eve, but am a veteran of many other MMO's. Thus far I have found the system to be fine. Today is a bit irritating but mostly because it is my first day able to really play much in a while and the server keeps dropping.
If the events of today bother you, then stay away from most other MMO's. WoW is down an avg of 8 days a month. lol (the older servers that is).

A someone who just put up with WoW for over a year and the nightmare their servers are i can tell you this is just a minor inconvience.
And from the players i know that have been playing this game for more than a year they are telling me this never happens. This and the fact there is no weekly maintence (that takes 12 hours during the daytime!) that i've encountered, makes me want to stick with this game. i'm at least going to give these guys a chance. I'm willing to pay for at least one month to see how this issue pans out.
