Welcome to the world of memory allocation in windows.
If you were using a real server os you'd be able to watch the allocation in real time, and even adjust the allocation model via os tools. In windows, well, you get to watch it crash and burn.
Hate to say it, but QFT really. Why in gord's name the servers aren't Linux boxes is beyond me...
Is Linux really that good? Maybe it is a hardware problem that CCP is experiencing? Maybe it is some kind of library files that have been corrupted during power spikes and are giving problems? Maybe it is human error? Thousand of possibilities but to say Linux is the paracetamol for server problem is just a bit inappropriate. I am pretty certain if there is a problem with servers running Linux, they wont be easy to fix with a click of a button.
2 things:
1) you CAN see memory allocation in real time on a windows box with the correct tools and Task Manager.
2) Lynx... pfft

Lol, what a statement. Does it have a meaning ?
edit: If you mean the browser, I recommend to read the what the lynx project was about. And as a remark, windows wasn't the first OS with a graphical internet browser and Internet Explorer wasn't the first on windows, but came two years later or so. And we've already graphical web browsers for linux for almost 10 years, so what's your point with Lynx
Anyway, the whole linux discussion is more or less pointless in this thread.
Spelling mistakes 4tw!!
/whistles while changing it to Linux... la la... la la...
