I was told the other day that I could aquire a covert ops ship that will allow me to warp while cloaked. I haven't been able to find evidence of this within the game so I'm figuring it isn't true.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I've become curious about that line of work(covert ops) and I'm looking for wisdom.

Both the Force Recon Ships and Covert Ops ships can warp while cloaked. Though, the Stealth Bomber and the Combat Recon ship cannot warp while cloaked.
As a side note, don't bother training up for covert ops unless you have some good skills. I.E. don't get a Stealth Bomber until you have your support skills up to at least lvl 3 and cruise missles at lvl 3. Hope that helps you out.

You can only do it with the covert ops cloak. Which can only be fitted to the ships mentioned above.

yeah cov ops are sweet ships. they can warp around and nobody even knows your there.

Force Recons can warp while cloak, but they become uncloaked if they come within 2000m of something, like This poor force recon who warped into the middle of a blue ice roid in a belt, silly piwat!

Dont confuse covert ops ships with covert ops cloaks, which newer players often do.
True Covert Ops ships - ie, not bombers - can warp whilst cloaked.
Bombers, and any normal ship that mounts a normal cloak, cannot warp whilst cloaked.
Some other basics to note, are that if you come within 2500m of something you will be decloaked, and also that you cannot jump/dock/etc whilst cloaked.

On the note of not being able to jump/dock when cloaked: it is entirely possible to move to gate or station without getting uncloaked by neither of these two, but you cannot re-cloak within 2500 of *any* object.
Additional info is that a Covert Ops can recloak very rapidly after uncloaking, but not if anything manages to lock you.

So whats the point in fitting a cloak to a bomber if it can't warp when cloaked?
Unless your sitting somewhere you know a target is comming couldn't it be pointless or is it a case of nothing better to fit?

This isn't exactly true, you've fallen into your own trap of confusing covops ships and cloaks.
Covert ops ships with normal cloaks fitted cannot warp while cloaked. The only way to warp while cloaked is to have a covert ops cloak fitted and they only fit on a covert ops ship.

People with no imagination don't make very good bomber pilots.
Hint: you don't need to sit cloaked, you can /warp in/, shoot something, and then cloak and move around - now you've killed one and they are now afraid, can't see you, and dont know where you are going to pop up and delete one of their frigs,haulers, or cruisers. If you have a decent stealth gang you can easily kill their BS too.
